What are these energies? Pokémon GO now offers you the opportunity to perform Mega Evolutions with various Pokémon.
These evolutions require energy, and the evolved Pokémon stay in Mega form only as long as you have enough energy. Energies work similarly to candies in Pokémon GO – You collect them for specific species. Your Blastoise energy cannot be used for a Mega Evolution of Charizard.
We show you here where you can collect this energy. So far, there are two ways to do this.
Mega Raids to collect energy
What happens there? In Mega Raids in Pokémon GO, you fight against Mega Pokémon like Charizard, Blastoise, or Venusaur. This is the most common method to collect energy.
What is important here? Make sure that you face the bosses with a strong team. The faster you defeat the boss, the more energy you will receive as a reward. If you are slow and take longer, you will only receive a small amount of energy.
Earn Mega Energy from Special Research
What is that? Since the evening of August 27, 2020, a new special research is available to trainers in Pokémon GO. The research “A Mega Discovery” consists of 4 chapters with three tasks each.
You will be rewarded with energy for Mega Bibarel. If that is your choice for the Mega Evolution, you should complete this research.
Are there other ways to collect Mega Energy?
Leaks show this: Even before the release of Mega Evolutions, dataminers found hints that there could be more ways to earn Mega Energy in the future.
It is assumed that there will also be field researches from PokéStops that will reward trainers with Mega Energy. However, this has not yet been officially confirmed.
An event about Mega Energy starts in September, providing you with the resource.
- From Tuesday, September 1, 2020, to Monday, September 7, 2020, the event with Mega Raids will take place. Collect as much of the coveted energy during this time.
Using Mega Energy – How?
Now you have learned where to collect energy. Now we show you how to handle it.
Once you have collected 200 Mega Energy for a Pokémon, you can evolve it for a limited time. Once the transformation is complete, each subsequent Mega Evolution for this specific Pokémon only costs 50 energy.
So if you evolve Charizard once for 200 Mega Energy, it will only cost 50 Mega Energy for that specific specimen in the future. For other Charizards from your collection, it will again be 200 Mega Energy. This benefit only applies to that specific Pokémon, not to the entire species.
