Call of Duty: Warzone has been thwarting cheaters for months and has truly trolled them, but recently there have been increasing reports of unfair players ruining the fun for others.
How has Warzone trolled cheaters? Ricochet, the anti-cheat system for Call of Duty: Warzone, has done a good job over the months, providing a mostly fair gaming experience. Some of the anti-cheat measures in CoD: Warzone can indeed be considered as trolling:
- Disarm: The Disarm mechanic immediately takes away all weapons from the cheater, leaving them helpless on the battlefield.
- Damage Shield: The Damage Shield grants honest players a shield that reduces damage from shots fired by a player identified as a cheater.
- Cloaking: Through the Cloaking mechanic, players receive camouflage when they are hit by shots from an identified cheater. This camouflage makes the honest players invisible.
If you haven’t had the chance to play the new map, you can take a look at Fortunes Keep on MeinMMO without facing cheaters:
Cheating Problem: “Reminds me of the good old days”
This is how cheaters are striking back now: Recently, reports of cheaters have been increasingly surfacing on social networks like reddit and Twitter. In addition to players exploiting a glitch in the new map Fortunes Keep, there are also videos of players who seem to be using cheating software.
The reddit user bwash407 showed a video where he watched another player pulling off incredible gunfights over great distances in many different directions, seemingly knowing the exact position of players who were hundreds of meters away outside his field of vision.
Bwash407 titled the video with the words “Ricochet must be on vacation this week…” referring to the anti-cheat system of Warzone. He then elaborated in the comments: “Reminds me of the good old ‘End of Verdansk’ days.
“Has the anti-cheat stopped working?”
What are other players saying about the current situation? The reddit post garnered attention and received nearly 100 comments within a day. Many of them report similar frustrating gaming experiences. There are also comparable statements on Twitter. MeinMMO summarizes some comments from Warzone players on the cheating problem.
- Xkwizito via Reddit: “I feel like hacking has increased recently. I have definitely seen a bunch of very obvious hackers at Fortunes Keep […].”
- SuperEvan via Twitter: “Has the anti-cheat stopped working?”
- Spa_5_Fitness_Camp via Reddit: It’s been really bad in the last few weeks. It’s slowly becoming unplayable.
- HappyCamper140 via Twitter: “The number of hackers in the last 10 days has been crazy!”
What can you do against cheaters? Ricochet generally does a good job. Since you can’t do much against a cheater yourself, you should definitely use the report function and hope that the anti-cheat system will troll the cheating players again.
Alternatively, despite the frustrating situation, it’s important to remain calm and friendly, check out the list of the best weapons and setups in the current meta on MeinMMO, and then show the cheaters who is boss.
What is your current impression of Warzone? Have you encountered more cheaters in the last days or weeks, or have you been spared so far? Feel free to let us know in the comments on MeinMMO!
