In Call of Duty: Warzone, the mid-season update launched this morning, bringing a much-requested adjustment: The tactical rifle AUG has been nerfed. Additionally, the zombie machines are now buy stations with very strong items. MeinMMO shows you the patch notes, first player discoveries, and why the nerf will hardly change anything.
Season 2 is entering its next round and has now released its mid-season update: Season 2 Reloaded. According to the official patch notes (via ravensoftware.com), you can expect the following changes:
- AUG nerf
- Attachment adjustments
- More ping functions on the Tac map
- Ground loot gives more armor plates
- Bug fixes for operators
But shortly after the update, it becomes clear that this is not the end. Players quickly discovered further adjustments and are also not satisfied with the nerf of the AUG. More details about the update can be found here. You can find our article on the complete mid-season update including Black Ops Cold War here.
Update 12:00: Players discovered a new warning in the game related to the zombie threat. After the “alarm”, rockets can be observed flying over Verdansk. We will insert a clip of that in the section “Players quickly discover further changes”.
CoD Warzone: Update 1.34 is huge, patch notes tiny
The mid-season update went live this morning, March 31, at around 8:00 AM. For some players, however, it may take a while to get into the game. Because the update is once again huge:
- Warzone update sizes
- PS5: 52.0 GB
- PS4: 52.0 GB
- Xbox Series X|S: 57.8 GB
- Xbox One: 57.8 GB
- PC: 52.4 GB
If you are on PC and also have Modern Warfare installed, the update can be up to 130 GB. However, at the end of the installation, the total storage requirement for the battle royale decreases:
- Warzone storage reduction
- PS5: 10.9 GB
- PS4: 10.9 GB
- Xbox Series X|S: 14.2 GB
- Xbox One: 14.2 GB
- PC: 11.8 GB
If you have Modern Warfare installed, you save a total of 30 GB on each platform, according to the patch notes of yesterday’s mid-season update (via treyarch.com).
What do the patch notes say? The official patch notes are clear:
- Fix for dev error 6634 on Xbox
- Armor plates should now spawn more regularly as ground loot
- New ping options on the map
- The base recoil of the AUG has been increased
- Muzzle attachments now show “concealed muzzle flash” as “Pro”
- Barrels with increased vehicle damage now actually deal more damage to vehicles
- Issues with the zoom when resting weapons against vertical walls have been fixed
- Bug fix for an error that affected some barrel attachments
These are the most important adjustments and already a large part of the patch notes. If you want to get an overview for yourself, then check out the complete English notes on the Raven blog (via ravensoftware.com).
Players quickly discover further changes
What else has been discovered? The first players and content creators have already tackled the massive data block and discovered further adjustments directly. Particularly interesting is the new zombie machine, which now also functions as a buy station and has some really strong items in store:
The zombie threat remains at 5%, but the little machine now spits out some really strong items:
- A bombardment for the “infected zones”
- The improved reconnaissance drone for 12,000 cash
- Forecast for 20,000 cash
Especially the forecast for 20,000 is incredibly strong. With it, you can see all the playable circles until the end of the round and directly make yourself comfortable in the endgame area of a match. The price is relatively cheap at 20,000, compared to the performance.
The bombardment also seems to be an interesting purchase option. You can only use the carpet bomb in the infected zombie zones, but here the new killstreak does a lot:
Also in connection with the zombie event, there are now messages that players see displayed across the entire screen during a match. The message reads: “Alarm: Contamination Protocol Level 1 active. Please seek shelter immediately.” After that, rockets can be observed flying over Verdansk:
As another “innovation”, attack helicopters are apparently back in the game. The vehicles were removed as they could be used for an exploit. They are basically normal helicopters that have a minigun for the occupants on the side.
AUG nerf will hardly change anything
At the top of many players’ wish lists was a nerf of the tactical rifle AUG, which has now arrived. Even DrDisrespect hated the weapon and even deleted Warzone from his computer in frustration. However, the nerf will likely make little difference for two reasons:
- The first impression of the nerf is disappointing
- The M16 should also be weakened
The first players have already tried the AUG after the nerf and are skeptical about whether the weakening is sufficient. It is even said: “The AUG seems almost exactly the same in Warzone” (via Twitter). However, this impression was also present during the second weakening of the DMR 14 some time ago, and in the end, it was sufficient to bring the weapon under control. Here we will have to wait and see how the nerf affects.
If you don’t like the AUG anymore, you can switch to the M16. The tactical rifle is generally as strong as the AUG, just has a slightly higher TTK. However, the M16 is even more stable than the AUG.
If further major changes are known, we will update the article accordingly.
