With Season 2 comes new content to Call of Duty: Vanguard and the free Battle Royale Warzone. The season starts for us on the evening of February 14th and MeinMMO shows you what to expect.
Call of Duty brings new content to its current titles on PC and console through a live season system. Every 6 to 8 weeks, a new season starts with a fresh theme, story bits, and brand new free content.
Season 2 was postponed to February 14th because CoD: Vanguard and Warzone are currently facing some issues. We have gathered what is known about the new season in this overview article for you.

Part of the season launches always includes a new battle pass, allowing you to unlock tons of cosmetics. Usually, a mid-season update or a reloaded update comes in the middle of the season with a second wave of content.
Season 2 – Information on update, release, roadmap
When does Season 2 start? It kicks off on February 14th at 6 PM.
Will there be an update? For Vanguard, it seems there will only be a small update. The content may have been implemented earlier in the game, reworked, and then unlocked.
For Warzone, you’ll need to download a decent package: 14 GB was discovered in the PlayStation database (via Twitter).
Is there a preload? In the last seasons, CoD has always offered a preload for Warzone and the current premium title. However, not all players get access to the pre-download at the same time.
If you have the opportunity, check your platform after 3 PM and try to start the download.

General content – Battle Pass, weapons, operator
What is already known? As in every season, a new battle pass starts with over 100 levels full of rewards. The pass costs 1,000 CoD points (around €10). You will receive:
- A new operator
- Lots of cosmetics
- XP boosts
Some levels are also free and must only be unlocked. These include the two new weapons:
- Assault rifle at level 15: KG M40
- LMG at level 31: Whitley
The new operator, the Taskforce: Yeti, enters the game. The 3 operators are specialists in close combat and help in the story to combat a new threat: the combat gas Nebula V.
Later in the season, a submachine gun and the melee weapon Ice Axe will also be introduced.
What’s coming in Warzone Season 2?
The content of Season 2 for the Battle Royale is definitely impressive:
- “Nebula V”: Comes as a bomb and new ammunition into the game
- P.D.S.: New field upgrade that protects against gas
- New POIs: A new chemical plant and underground labs on the map
- Npcs: Soldiers of the Axis powers patrol near the “Nebula V” facilities
- Transport tank: An armed armored vehicle rolls over Caldera
- Bomber: The 2nd type of aircraft for the Vanguard modes
- New mode: Large deathmatch at the start
- Redeploy Balloon: The balloon shoots you into the air
- Rebirth Mid-Season: Change of the island in the mid-season and trails mode

What’s coming in Vanguard Season 2?
What’s there for multiplayer? As always, there will be new maps and fresh game modes. 2 maps will launch directly with the start of the season: Casablanca and Gondola.
Furthermore, the beta of the “League Play” mode will start on February 17th. The game modes in League Play are separated from the normal matches and have their own rules.
This mode creates matches with a strong dependency on player skills.
Thus, certain weapons or gadgets that would give a significant advantage in the more competitive environment are prohibited. You can read about what League Play looked like in its predecessor Cold War here.
With “Arms Race,” a large mode with vehicles will be introduced during the season.
In addition, there are new gameplay tools through the battle pass: 2 perks, a grenade, and a hefty bomber killstreak.
What’s there for zombies? The developers of the Zombie mode for Vanguard, Treyarch, spoke in a blog about Season 2 (via treyarch.com). Here’s what you can expect:
- Pause function for solo players
- New hub, similar to Stalingrad
- More survival content
- Fresh story quests
- New “Demon” including artifact
- New type of enemies
- Additional mission objectives for the portals
- More wonder weapons

If Call of Duty manages to get the issues aside from the new content under control, the new Season 2 shows potential. There’s a lot of new content for both games and it will be exciting to see how all of this is received by the players.
