Call of Duty: Warzone released the new update 1.35 on the evening of April 19, nerfing the OP pistol Sykov, which rampaged in Battle Royale over the weekend. Additionally, the developers fixed the broken sniper scopes and some weapon perks from CoD MW. MeinMMO shows and explains the patch notes.
What is going on? Call of Duty: Warzone had a crazy weekend. With the introduction of the new Sykov pistol, which was way too strong for Battle Royale, the meta changed for a few days in close combat. Many players used the free days to tear through the streets of Verdansk with the pistol in its Akimbo version.
Now the Sykov has already been nerfed – in record time. In addition to the nerf, there were a few other important changes:
- Nerf of the Sykov pistol with auto-fire and Akimbo
- Fix of the broken sniper scopes from CoD MW
- Some broken weapon perks from CoD MW have been repaired

CoD Warzone: Update 1.35 on April 19 nerfs Sykov
What should you know about the Sykov nerf? The pistol unexpectedly arrived in the game last Thursday (April 15) and was OP from the start. Its time-to-kill potential was on shotgun level, yet the pistol could be included in the loadout even without the “Overkill” perk. The combination of automatic fire, Akimbo version, and 160 rounds in the chamber was just too strong.
To get the little beast under control, the developers have now nerfed some values of the strong attachments and lowered the damage when using auto-fire together with Akimbo. The patch notes state:
- Sorokin barrel and Akimbo together reduce damage by 25%
- Hip-fire spread increased with the Sorokin barrel
- Movement speed decreased with Akimbo by 5%
- Movement speed with 80-round drum decreased by 5%
- 80-round drum reduces ADS speed by 7%
The nerf particularly targeted the deadly combination of Akimbo with the automatic barrel, and it remains to be seen if the weakening achieves its goal. Even without these attachments, the time-to-kill of a single Sykov is at the level of the popular assault rifle FFAR 1. Since you can carry the weapon without “Overkill”, it remains a strong option, and it is currently doubtful whether a submachine gun can surpass its strong values.
What do you need to know about sniper scopes? The mid-season update of Season 2 broke some scopes of the sniper rifles from Modern Warfare. Powerful long-range weapons like the Kar 98k, HDR, or SP-R 208 could suddenly be used without scope glint.
This was incredibly unfair, as this mechanic provides balance – the weapons allow kills at long range, but you can also see where the shooter is hiding. The problem seems to be fixed now. The patch notes state:
- A bug was fixed where some sniper scopes and the variable zoom scope had no scope glint due to the error
What do you need to know about weapon perks? The developers do not specifically address which perks were repaired. We currently know of at least 3 extra attachments that should function as usual with the update:
- Presence of Mind: Extended the “Hold Your Breath” for sniper rifles to up to one minute
- Fragile – Wounded: Enemies should regenerate health slower when hit
- Quickness: Should actually increase reload speed
However, it remains to be seen whether these 3 weapon perks actually refer to the repairs mentioned.
You still need to know this: The most important weapon adjustments have been made, but the patch notes list a few other points beyond the weapons:
- The RC-XD is no longer available at the regular buy station – only at the zombie stations
- There were issues with applying armor plates after activating a killstreak or field upgrade
- Missiles from the containment protocol are now quieter and no longer land in the gameplay area
- A bug was fixed that kept the collision of loadout drops after pickup
- In the King Slayer mode, the gas circle no longer goes outside the playing field
- Repair of the reactive weapon skin “Swatt Master” of the XM4

Shortly before the new Season 3, which starts on Thursday, April 22, Warzone brings a few demanded changes. Especially the nerf of the Sykov pistol is likely to please many players – the weapon was indeed incredibly strong and has now received a nerf in record time.
Also, the other current meta weapons are expected to be weakened soon. Especially the M16 and the FFAR are likely to be in focus. Let’s see what we’ll be running through the Battle Royale with in Season 3.
