Call of Duty: Warzone has rolled out its major update 1.50 today, launching the PC driver of its new anti-cheat system “RICOCHET” worldwide. Additionally, there were bug fixes and a few balance adjustments. MeinMMO presents the patch notes and answers the question: “Are there still cheaters now?”.
The most important points at a glance:
- The free Battle Royale Call of Duty: Warzone recently launched with the Pacific update for a new map and aimed to introduce a kernel driver on PC as part of the new anti-cheat system “RICOCHET”
- The community had high hopes for the new PC driver and was disappointed when the program only went online in the Asia-Pacific region at launch
- With the new update 1.50, the kernel driver for PC is now live worldwide
CoD Warzone: Update 1.50 on 15.12. – Patch Notes
When will the update come? The new update 1.50 is already online.
How big is the update? The update has become quite large – on PC and on Xbox and PlayStation consoles. Expect 15 to 17 GB.
It is possible that contents from the Christmas event have already entered the game. Another update is expected on the morning of December 17.
What changes does the update bring? The highlight is the activation of the kernel driver on PC. This is a small program that now runs while you play Warzone on PC.
The driver examines interactions of programs on your PC with Warzone and tries to identify suspicious behavior and recognize patterns that help detect cheaters. An overview with answers regarding the kernel driver can be found here:

Kernel driver is online – Are there no more cheaters now?
Cheaters will not completely disappear from the game due to the new kernel driver on PC. The driver is not a cheat detector that immediately detects and reports every suspicious program.
Think of it more as an additional diagnostic tool. Along with the server-side measures of the new RICOCHET system, CoD aims to discover more cheaters, but there is still no guarantee to detect all of them.
If a cheater is caught through these measures, the developers now have the possibility to better understand the processes on the cheater’s PC and clarify important questions:
- How do cheat programs interact with Warzone?
- What anomalies can also be discovered among other cheaters?
- How do cheat programs hide from detection?
Those responsible can thus identify patterns and apply them in detecting other cheaters. However, even with the kernel driver, it is not possible to detect all cheaters at once.
Call of Duty continues to ask for your assistance:
- Report suspicious behavior in the game
- Protect your accounts with two-factor authentication
- RICOCHET gets better the more data accumulates
- Security measures are constantly reviewed and updated
There will soon be more details about the new anti-cheat system in Warzone. Possibly also with a date for the introduction in the multiplayer mode of CoD: Vanguard. We will keep you updated on MeinMMO.
“RICOCHET” is finally completely online, and it will be exciting to see whether the new kernel driver on PC provides the desired relief for the cheating problem.
Currently, however, there are also some weapons in the game that provide a strong advantage even without cheats: New sniper gives you easy kills in CoD Warzone – Expert finds them “massively overpowered”
