Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War has released a new trailer for its “Fireteam – Dirty Bomb” mode. There we could get our first look at parts of the new Warzone map. What’s going on?
What is the trailer about? Treyarch and Activision have introduced their large-scale mode “Fireteam – Dirty Bomb” in a new trailer. This is a new mode for 40 players, played on large maps, and is also featured in the CoD Cold War Beta.
And this trailer might now show the first images of the new map for the Battle Royale Warzone, which has been speculated about for quite some time. You can watch the video here:
Where can the new map be seen? It specifically concerns a short sequence where a transport plane is visible, from which players jump out in the style of Warzone and glide to the ground shortly thereafter. There is also the following image visible:
Here, numerous fans, players, and experts like TheXclusiveAce are assuming that this is the first glimpse of at least a part of the new Warzone map.
What speaks for a new Warzone map: The new Fireteam mode is similar to the large-scale Ground War mode from Modern Warfare, where the maps are also gigantic. And already, the Ground War maps (and many small multiplayer maps) were mostly excerpts from the current Warzone map.
Experts therefore assume that “Fireteam – Dirty Bomb” from CoD Cold War is no different. The map visible during the jump could indeed be a part of the new Warzone map. After all, it is known that Warzone will also continue with Black Ops Cold War.
But there is more. Data miners found a video in the Cold War Beta data that shows a kind of slideshow of two large Fireteam maps before they were even released.
The file was called “wz_startscreen,” where wz is likely an abbreviation for Warzone. Many interpret this as a clear indication that the Fireteam maps could be parts of the new Warzone map. Additionally, there were already some leaks hinting at battles in Russia and dense forests. So the chances are not all that bad that we might have caught a first glimpse of the upcoming Warzone map in the new trailer.
However, this is not officially confirmed, so take it with the appropriate grain of caution.
What was also found in the beta were indications of hated loot boxes. But there is good news from Activision and Treyarch: CoD Cold War Beta: Players find hints of loot boxes – This is what Activision says
