Recently, there is a new item in Call of Duty: Warzone – the Spotter Scope. MeinMMO explains what this new piece of equipment can do, where to find it, and how to use it best.
What is the Spotter Scope all about? The Spotter Scope is a new piece of equipment for CoD Warzone and was recently introduced with the big Mid-Season Update.
It takes up an equipment slot like a smoke grenade or the Heartbeat Sensor and embodies, alongside a sniper scope with high zoom or a drone, essentially another useful means of reconnaissance.

Everything you need to know about the Spotter Scope in Warzone
What exactly can the Spotter Scope do? Whether as a sniper, its support, or just in a team: If you want to spot or scout a target, you have previously relied on sniper scopes or drones. But these have their disadvantages. Drones can be easily heard, and sniper scopes have a telling reflection that warns the victim and draws attention to the shooter.
Now there is another item that excellently fulfills this role – the permanently usable Spotter Scope. It is essentially a binocular that allows you to look far thanks to high zoom – both normally and in thermal view, which often makes spotting targets in heavily vegetated areas or in windows easier.
In addition, you can mark enemies, making them visible to you and your squad.
What is the big advantage of the Spotter Scope? The big advantage is: It is silent and has no reflection. This means: The telling shine of a sniper scope is eliminated. You can scout and mark targets completely unnoticed at all relevant distances – whether you want to eliminate them yourself as a sniper without revealing your position or for your team.
How do you get the Spotter Scope? You find this new scope randomly on the ground and in crates scattered across the game world or as a reward for completing a reconnaissance contract.
How exactly does marking work? If you keep an enemy in the middle of the scope for a while, they will be marked with a red diamond. This remains (temporarily) even if the enemy disappears behind a corner or enters a building.
The distance to the enemy plays a role:
- You need 3 seconds to mark an enemy at long distance
- 2 seconds at medium distance
- and just under 1 second at close range
The marking remains for 5 seconds and is visible to all squad members. However, it remains permanently on the enemy if you stay on them with the Spotter Scope. The 5 seconds only count once you are no longer aiming at the enemy with the scope.

How to best use the Spotter Scope
Solo: If you are playing alone and like to play as a sniper, this new item is essentially a must-have. It allows you to easily spot targets even at extreme distances without revealing your position through a flickering reflection – whether in open areas, wooded areas, or in the windows of high buildings.
Just find a quiet spot and scan the most important strategic points for enemies. You just need to quickly use your sniper scope to shoot and then you can change your position.
However, the device competes as tactical equipment with the strong Heartbeat Sensor. Also an important device in solo mode, and you should carefully consider which gadget is best suited for your match and chosen playstyle.
In a team: The new item is also very valuable in a team – especially in combination with a Heartbeat Sensor. If one member of the team has the Spotter Scope and another has the Heartbeat Sensor, then you are essentially tactically well-equipped for all eventualities.
If you have to cross a larger area, scan specific points from a distance or mark enemies for your comrades, then the scope comes into play. If you need to enter a building or are in a densely built area, the Heartbeat Sensor helps.
In short: Working with others makes the Spotter Scope an effective sniper or its direct support, but also an extremely valuable member of the squad that can generally mark enemies for all his comrades and can scout and monitor the battlefield unnoticed.
