Verdansk is the first map that CoD Warzone launched with 2 years ago. This is now apparently set to return, as the developers confirmed in a livestream. However, the wording makes fans wonder who will be able to play the “new, old map.”
What kind of map is this? Verdansk was the first map of CoD Warzone with which it all started in 2020. There are two variants, one is set in our time, later the map was revised with an update to reflect the year 1984.
The map was very popular among players. Then came the big Pacific update and Verdansk was replaced by the new island map Caldera. This has met with a rather difficult reception among fans and many felt it was not CoD, the game was in a disastrous state, despite – for some because of – the massive update in a catastrophic state.
Now an announcement has made many hopeful: The map missed by players, Verdansk, is set to return in 2023. However, fans have already discovered a possible catch. Because it is possible that Verdansk may not come to consoles and PC.

Verdansk is returning, but only on “certain platforms”
What we learn: The short clip shows the developers’ statement that Verdansk will return to Call of Duty in 2022. At first glance, this sounds straightforward: the popular map, missed by many fans, is set to return. A great thing.
However, players have read “the fine print” from the statement. It literally says: “Verdansk will return in 2023 on certain platforms.”
Some players already suspect: This may not mean consoles or PC, but mobile platforms. Because with CoD Warzone Mobile, a mobile version was confirmed on March 10 for iOS and Android.
Therefore, fans are now speculating: With the announcement of Verdansk’s return and the wording, the unannounced mobile version of CoD Warzone is actually meant.
Other players suspect that with the release of CoD Warzone 2, Verdansk could return on the old-gen consoles.
Will CoD Warzone Mobile come in 2023 with Verdansk?
What speaks for CoD Warzone Mobile: The theory is supported by leaks that circulated in mid-March. This revealed CoD Warzone Mobile before the official announcement. Furthermore, the leak mentioned that Verdansk is to be included in a new form in the mobile version.
As the leak has otherwise been confirmed, the information regarding Verdansk could also be correct. If this is true, a release of the mobile version before 2023 seems unlikely. The artwork in the tweet linked above also resembles Verdansk.
Many hope, however, that the beloved map will somehow return to consoles and PC.
What do players say about the theories? In the comments under the reddit post, many hope that Verdansk will not just appear on Android and iOS. They dislike the Caldera map and miss the old map.
That CoD Warzone Mobile is coming seems almost certain to most. And some players seem very excited about it, as for example noob_music_producer writes: “I will be a full-time mobile gamer when they bring the old Verdansk stuff and the crisp gunplay to mobile.”
RevengeFeelsSweet is sure: “Mobile will have a great future.” However, many commentators would prefer if Verdansk would return on PS4 and Xbox One. They would like to see Verdansk playable again on consoles.
