The CR-56 AMAX is one of the strongest weapons in Call of Duty: Warzone, and the pro Nick “Nickmercs” Kolcheff recently showcased an interesting setup on YouTube. A few pros then spoke up and asked him to delete the video with the setup.
What was going on? As on almost any day of the week, the pro Warzone player “Nickmercs” released a video on his YouTube channel featuring a weapon setup he tried out in the Battle Royale.
Under the title “This will replace the Kilo! ? (Modern Warfare Warzone)” he showcased a setup of the CR-56 AMAX, which was introduced in Season 4 of Call of Duty. The heavy assault rifle inflicts heavy damage but is slightly more unstable than the weaker alternatives. Here you can find our weapon guide.
Two professional Warzone players then spoke up on Twitter:
The two streamers “averagejoewo” and “DiazBiffle” regularly participate in major Warzone tournaments and are not pleased that Nickmercs is now spreading the AMAX setup. Joe writes: “Hey Nickmercs, can you please delete your AMAX video? I would do anything, really anything for it.” Diaz adds: “I agree.”
The pros don’t want you to know this setup. MeinMMO presents the attachment combo and shows whether it is really strong enough to be kept a secret.
Pros demand Nickmercs to delete the setup video – Rightfully so?
What does the setup look like? Basically, it is a standard Warzone setup. It comes with a Monolithic Suppressor, long barrel, larger magazine, and large sight. However, as a small adjustment, he chooses the “Ranger Foregrip” instead of the Commando variant that is often seen in AMAX setups.
- Muzzle: Suppressor (Monolithic)
- Barrel: XRK Zodiac S440
- Sight: VLK 3.0x-Sight
- Underbarrel: Ranger Foregrip
- Ammunition: 45-Round Magazine
What’s its capability? This setup helps you gain better control over the strong vertical recoil.
The CR-56 AMAX is a heavy assault rifle and can best be described as a “tamed” AK-47. The AMAX is based on the Israeli army rifle Galil, which took many traits from the iconic AK-47. And it plays just like that – heavy. Compared to a stable Kilo 141 or the M13-Laser, you have to work much harder for your kills, as the AMAX is not one of the most stable weapons in Warzone.
The barrel, VLK sight, and underbarrel help you better control the weapon’s strong recoil. Overall, the two types of recoil are reduced by the following values:
- Recoil Control – 49 %
- Reduces the upward drift
- Recoil Stabilization – 10 %
- Reduces the side drift
Additionally, the setup increases the rifle’s range by 45 %, and the AMAX still inflicts its full damage at nearly 35 meters. If you want to see the build in action, check out Nickmercs’ English video:
Setup doesn’t perform wonders – AMAX remains more of a pro weapon
Does the setup really need to be kept secret? No, not really. The AMAX remains a sweat and pro weapon even with this setup, requiring considerable corrections while firing.
You can tell that the Commando Foregrip for horizontal recoil is missing. However, after a few initial shots, you have a relatively straight upward recoil that can be easily controlled through the attachments. This is where the attachment combo shines, but it is not truly outstanding or even “Overpowered”.
The CR-56 AMAX impresses with its damage in Warzone, not its good handling. If you haven’t tried the gun yet, you definitely should put it into one of your loadouts. When it comes to damage, no all-round weapon can rival it. Among the stable Warzone alternatives, only the MG34 is in the AMAX league, but the LMG comes with different disadvantages.

Call of Duty: Warzone has been active for nearly 7 months now and continuously brings fresh wind into the weapon selection through new weapons and balancing. Which one do you prefer now in Season 6? Let us know in our current survey: Which weapon do you think is the best in Warzone?
