On Thursday, July 15, the Mid-Season Update for Call of Duty: Warzone will start and bring some new features to the game. Included is a new killstreak, a regular event, and a completely new mode. MeinMMO shows you the roadmap and all known details.
What’s going on in Warzone? Half of Season 4 is over, and on July 15, Call of Duty: Warzone will enter the second round with the “Season Four Reloaded” update. Now, an updated roadmap for the so-called Mid-Season Update is online and shows the planned innovations for Warzone:
- Killstreak: Automated turret
- Mode: Payload mode with 2 teams
- Event: Blueprint Blitz lets you hunt cosmetics
- Weapons: Submachine gun OTs 9 and melee weapon “Bat”

Information about the Mid-Season Update – Download & Pre-Load
When will the Mid-Season Update be released? The content will be unlocked on July 15. The blog post about the Mid-Season Update remains somewhat vague (via callofduty.com). A release around 9 AM is possible, but it could also be in the evening around 6 or 7 PM.
Is there a Pre-Load? The developers announce a pre-load that should start in our time zone at 6 AM on July 15. However, the Warzone pre-loads have been rather unreliable lately – some players could start the download, others could not. We will keep you updated at MeinMMO.
What is the size of the update? The developers have also published information about the download sizes:

Content of the Mid-Season in CoD Warzone
What kind of new killstreak is this? Warzone is getting an automated turret. With the new killstreak, you set up a turret that fires at enemies within range. The turret operates at an angle of nearly 180° and lasts about a minute before disappearing with a harmless explosion.
An exciting killstreak that brings new tactical possibilities to the game. However, the turret is part of the rare loot, and after the release, you can only find the killstreak in the loot rooms of the “Red Door” system.
What can the new mode do? With the “Payload” mode, a vehicle mode is coming back to the game. Two teams of 20 players each compete against each other and aim to either destroy the payload vehicles or escort them to their destination. Respawns are not limited, and you have your loadouts available from the start.
The developers cite the “War” mode from CoD: WWII as inspiration, the CoD from 2017. Back then, there was an attacking and a defending team, and the attackers had to capture checkpoints and advance step by step. Payload is also supposed to work with checkpoints – the attackers need to deliver multiple vehicles to the checkpoints on the map while the defenders block their way.

What is “Blueprint Blitz”? These are small events, similar to the Double XP events, that run for a limited time and introduce a little twist to the game. When a “Blueprint Blitz” event runs, a smuggling task spawns after every 2nd completed assignment during a match.
With the smuggling task, you can secure a lot of cash for your match, but also snag weapon skins. The special thing during the Blitz event: The smuggling tasks also deliver weapon skins from previous seasons. If you missed a weapon skin from the smuggling tasks, you will get a chance to get the weapon skin during the events.
When the first “Blueprint Blitz” event will take place is still unknown.
What are the new weapons? Two new weapons are coming to the game during the Mid-Season: the submachine gun OTs 9 and the melee weapon Bat. According to the description in the blog, the OTs 9 could become an alternative to the Bullfrog, with smaller magazines but a higher rate of fire. The strong headshots of the Bullfrog are also said to be taken by the OTs 9.
The Bat is another brutal melee alternative for the Warzone. In multiplayer, the metal club is supposed to eliminate your enemies with a single hit and resembles a baseball bat. Similar to the baseball bat, the Bat is expected to make its way into Warzone during the Mid-Season.
What else is there to know? Besides the specific announcements, the developers hint at changes for the “Red Doors” – but remain vague. As with the presentation at the season start, there is only a short text with redacted sections:
“Brave operators have walked through the Red Doors across Verdansk and entered unknown areas… New information suggests that these red doors [[ANONYMIZED]] will appear and take you to [[ANONYMIZED]]. Since there are still many Perseus sleeper cells in Verdansk, we warn you of [[ANONYMIZED]].”
Thus, there could be new locations for the red doors, and something might have changed at the destination point as well. However, we will probably only find out what the changes look like after the release.
Warzone is moving at a significantly faster pace in year 2 than last year and continues to show commitment with the Mid-Season Update. However, the best content can hardly conceal the current biggest problem in Warzone: the flood of cheaters.
