A new trailer for the upcoming mid-season update in CoD Warzone has been released. It features a lot of explosions, 80’s action heroes, and the appropriate music.
Here is the trailer: The new trailer announces the theme “80’s Action Heroes” for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, as well as the battle royale spin-off Warzone. And it is truly bursting with action.
From the very first minute, the 80’s theme is carried through: First, the picture quality is set to “grainy”, before references to actual film classics are sprinkled in.
- “Some Heroes Die Hard” it says there (“Die Hard” is the English title of “Stirb Langsam” with Bruce Willis)
- And “Others Draw First Blood” (“First Blood” was the English original title of the first “Rambo” installment with Sylvester Stallone).
John Rambo is also the one who dominates much of the trailer. We see the fighter portrayed by Sylvester Stallone adjusting his bandana and looking into the camera in front of an explosion – because cool guys always stand with their backs to an explosion.
Moreover, the trailer shows someone crawling through ventilation shafts in the finest Die Hard manner – fitting to clues about the movie that have already been spread. And a building that strongly resembles Nakatomi Plaza from the film has apparently made it into the Warzone. We have embedded the entire trailer here for you:
What new content does the update bring?
These operators are coming: It has been hinted for a while that John McClane and John Rambo would appear as operators in Call of Duty. Now this is confirmed by the trailer, it is set to start on May 20. According to the official announcement, that’s not all.
This comes with the update: With Rambo comes a fitting bundle, which includes two finishing moves and blueprints for legendary weapons as well as cosmetics.
John McClane also comes with his own bundle including moves, weapon blueprints, and cosmetics.
As already seen in the trailer, Nakatomi Plaza will also appear as a new point of interest on the Warzone map at the launch of the event. The tower comes with its own special missions that you can solve, as well as a safe that needs to be opened.
In addition, several survival camps will appear throughout Verdansk for you to visit. Additionally, there will be a CIA outpost in the northwest of Verdansk.
What is changing with the weapons: There is also something happening on the weapon front: With the combat bow that fits John Rambo, there’s a new killstreak in Warzone. It consists of a bow and arrow that have been fitted with explosive tips, as is known from Cold War. Also, the “Ballistic Knife” known from the Black Ops series is making its way into the game, intended for stealth attacks.
How the community is reacting: On YouTube, the trailer is being positively received and stands at a good ratio of nearly 17,000 likes to nearly 300 dislikes (as of May 18, 19:15).
In the comments, users hope that the two 80’s icons will also be voiced by their respective actors – namely Sylvester Stallone and Bruce Willis.
Additionally, other characters are suggested, who could make an appearance in the game – such as Dutch from Predator, portrayed by Arnold Schwarzenegger. He has also previously appeared in the game Predator: Hunting Grounds.
