The Battle Royale Warzone recently showcased its new large map during the multiplayer reveal of Call of Duty: Vanguard – an island in the Pacific. Additionally, Warzone will receive Vanguard’s graphic engine.
What is happening with Warzone? The first images of the new map from Call of Duty: Warzone are online. We have included a short video with impressions from the official CoD Twitter account:
- All info about the multiplayer of the new Vanguard can be found here
- You can read a personal assessment of the new Vanguard here
When will the new map come? There is no exact date yet, but in the Vanguard multiplayer reveal stream, it was said: “shortly after the release of Vanguard”.
The release is on November 5. However, a release with the first shared season of Warzone with the new CoD is also possible. This will likely go online about a month after the release.
What should you know about the map? The new map is an island in the Pacific with colorful elements and is the size of Verdansk, the current main map of Warzone. There are said to be many secrets to discover, and the developers emphasize that the map benefits from the experiences since the Warzone release in March 2020.
What does this mean regarding the graphic update? Warzone will be completely “transferred” to Vanguard’s graphic engine. The battle royale is based on the technology of Modern Warfare, and the new Vanguard uses an advanced version of this MW technology.
For Warzone, this means:
- Graphic upgrade due to the new engine
- A changed gameplay experience due to adjusted movement
- New options for weapon laying and “blind fire”
- The FoV slider could possibly come to consoles (confirmed for Vanguard)
What about all the weapons? The developers have not yet gone into detail, but the gunsmith could change drastically with a transition to the Vanguard engine. The new CoD has 10 attachment slots per weapon, and each slot can also be filled.
So far, you can only attach 5 attachments to your weapons in Warzone, and the old weapons are supposed to remain in the game. Whether the weapons will still offer only 5 slots or CoD will find another solution for this has yet to be revealed later.
What about my cosmetics? You can continue to use all your cosmetics, and the skins from Vanguard will come on top. The battle pass will continue to function as usual and can even level up across 4 CoDs:
- Warzone
- Vanguard
- Cold War
- Modern Warfare
Whether you can keep your prestige ranks is not yet entirely clear. In a CoD blog, it is only mentioned that: “Call of Duty: Warzone will continue to consider your past player successes as the unique progress system will carry on” (via callofduty.com).
If you want to watch the complete Warzone segment from the reveal stream in English, we have included the video with the corresponding timestamp (25:38 minutes):
Warzone is marching with Vanguard towards the future: anti-cheat, fresh engine, new map. This could be very big for fans of the series. However, currently, there are only the first announcements, and important details remain unclear. What was shown during the multiplayer reveal was indeed promising.
But first, the beta of Vanguard is coming. If you want to get a little warmed up in the future engine of Warzone, you can find the important dates for the beta and open beta here.
