After a slight delay, the new map of the free battle royale Call of Duty: Warzone comes on December 8th. Now the first trailer is available, released on YouTube by PlayStation:
Additionally, the developers also showed new information about gameplay after the Pacific update.
Trailer, overview map, landing zones – This is Caldera
What else is there to see from the new map? A few hours before the trailer, an overview map of the new map was already released on Twitter:
In a detailed blog post on callofduty.com, the developers also show a picture for each of the marked “Points of Interest” for an initial impression:

How large will the map approximately be? With the overview map, it is now possible to compare the two maps Caldera and Verdansk in a comprehensible way. On reddit, there is a map with overlapped maps for size comparison:
Players celebrate the map and the trailer humor
How is everything received? There are almost only positive reactions to the new map and the trailer. The colorful map reminds some people positively of Far Cry and the airline humor of the trailer is very well received.
- Vangezy on YouTube: “Are you guys feeling the same way or am I just hyped about the map? It’s so beautiful – no washed-out graphics, no gloomy filters, almost like the “Battlefield 2042/Far Cry 6” graphics and almost as colorful as the “Black Ops” series.
- @stevob96 on Twitter: “I won’t be leaving my house when it comes out.”
- Noah Taylor on YouTube: “I like the trailer. I want to see more funny trailers!”
However, some players complain that there are still no firm statements regarding the field of view settings on consoles and the versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series.
Warzone will receive Vanguard graphics with the introduction of the new map, and the latest CoD has the field of view slider on consoles and a next-gen version. Here, Warzone fans are hoping for clear statements at last.
Another frequently asked question – “Can you swim on Caldera?”. And although the water is no longer as lethal as in Verdansk: Swimming is still not possible. But you can walk in shallow water and even receive the effects of the perk “Cold-Blooded” when you crouch. Here you can find out more about gameplay after the Pacific update.
The new map leaves a strong impression and is well received. But what do you think about Caldera? Do you think the island will stay fresh for a long time? Do you like the setting? Would you perhaps prefer to roam through a city again?
