Season 2 of Call of Duty: Warzone nerfs important attachments for “Cold War” weapons with range, making some strong weapons almost unusable. Which firearms you should leave in the closet for now and why this will change again soon, you can find out on MeinMMO.
Update March 4: An update has brought back the old strength of the suppressors. You can now use Cold War weapons without any downside.
Original message – Which attachments are affected? It is about the popular suppressor attachments for weapons from Black Ops Cold War. Specifically: The muzzle attachments in slot 6 that you unlock last:
- Agency Suppressor
- Wrapped Suppressor
- GRU Muzzle Brake
These parts are essentially the counterpart to the “Monolithic Suppressor” for weapons from Modern Warfare – one of the most important attachments in Call of Duty: Warzone. A secret change with Season 2 made the attachments significantly weaker, and thus also the weapons that benefited from them.
MeinMMO shows you which weapons you should avoid in Warzone for the time being and how you can replace them. Additionally, we will show you what the developers say about the change. If you want to watch an analysis of the attachments in the video, check out the English YouTuber and Warzone expert “JGOD”. We’ll embed his video for you here:
Many weapons from Cold War suffer significantly from the adjustment
What happened to the attachments? Before Season 2, you could use them to increase your bullet speed and range, in addition to the silencing effect.
Currently, the suppressors reduce your bullet speed by a staggering 45%, putting some strong Cold War weapons in Warzone under pressure. The attachment was very important for range weapons from Cold War to keep up with their competitors from CoD MW.
Which weapons should I avoid for now? The best submachine guns in Warzone aside, you should currently avoid the “Cold War” weapons. All-round weapons that offer you a bit more range currently have a disadvantage compared to the guns from CoD MW. The most important ones:
- Groza – Assault Rifle
- FFAR 1 – Assault Rifle
- Stoner 63 – LMG
- DMR 14 – Tactical Rifle
- M16 – Tactical Rifle
- Pellington – Sniper Rifle
- Tundra – Sniper Rifle
But all other assault rifles, LMGs, and tactical rifles also suffer from the change. Only the FFAR 1 can still hold its own somewhat for now, as it is effective at shorter distances. But keep your hands off the nerfed suppressors.
Look for alternatives, but don’t say goodbye
What can I use instead? Currently, you should instead rely on the arsenal from Modern Warfare. Our suggestions:
- Replacement for all-round weapons with low range: Assault Rifle CR-56 AMAX
- Replacement for all-round weapons with high range: Assault Rifle M4A1
- Replacement for tactical rifles: DMRs SP-R 208 or Kar 98k
- Replacement for snipers: Sniper rifles AX-50 or HDR
If you don’t want to be at a disadvantage with your weapon power, then use the guns from CoD MW for now again. But don’t put your FFAR too far back in the closet. It’s very possible that you can use it again soon.
What do the developers say about this? The CoD makers have indeed commented on the nerf:
Tweet translation: “We will bring the Agency/GRU/Wrapped suppressors back to their former glory in the next hotfix.”
The adjustment is also found on the Trello board of CoD. Here, the developers collect known bugs and show what is currently being worked on. The entry regarding the suppressor nerf has the note ”Fix planned” and has thus already passed the “Research” phase. An adjustment could come as early as this week. However, there is currently no set date.
In Season 2, not only weapon changes bring fresh air to the Warzone. There are new missile silos to marvel at, NPC zombies to incinerate, and some strong loot areas are now open and passable without a key card. This not only shakes up weapon selection but also your route in the battle royale a bit – make sure to check out the new features without “Cold War” weapons.
