The roadmap for the upcoming Season 6 of Call of Duty: Warzone is online. The last season in the old Verdansk is approaching and brings, among other things, extensive map changes and nostalgia in the Gulag. MeinMMO goes through the roadmap with you.
What’s going on? Call of Duty: Warzone is on the verge of a turning point. With the release of CoD: Vanguard, the battle royale is getting a fresh engine and completely new map. However, before that, the developers are still rampaging a bit on the old map Verdansk and bringing some map changes in the last joint season with Black Ops Cold War. The roadmap shows:
- Extensive map changes Stadium and Downtown
- Bunker areas below the city
- A new, old Gulag
- 5 new weapons in Season 6
- The event “The Haunting”

Warzone: Season 6 – Roadmap shows broken Verdansk
When does Season 6 start? On Thursday, October 7th, the new season kicks off. There is currently no exact time. However, based on experience, the new season usually starts at 6 AM our time.
What happens to the map? As the impressive cinematic trailer has already shown, a good part of Verdansk is blown up. In old bunker facilities from World War II under the city, explosions have occurred that cause the stadium and parts of the area “Downtown” to lie in ruins.
Entire buildings have collapsed, a large crater runs through half the map – since the launch of Verdansk ’84, this is the biggest adjustment on the map in the Cold War. This will likely make the last weeks in the city a bit more varied.
What are these bunkers? The German World War II bunkers are a reference to CoD: Vanguard. The new CoD is set in World War II and will again closely cooperate with Warzone – just like Modern Warfare and Cold War before. The developers write in the blog about the roadmap:
“After Adler discovered the existence of these relics from a bygone era, he drilled through the surface to place seismic charges to trigger a larger explosion. Their mysterious nature hints at what will come after the launch of Vanguard…”
The bunkers will be partially walkable again in Season 6, just like in the earlier, modern version of Verdansk. Whether you’ll need codes again to get into the bunkers is still unclear. It’s also uncertain whether you will find particularly strong loot again. However, the bunkers are supposed to become part of the playable area again.
What’s going on with the Gulag? Not only do the bunkers likely evoke nostalgic feelings in some veterans – the Gulag should also achieve that. With Season 6, a Shower Gulag is returning. According to the description, the new version is only inspired by the very first Gulag of Warzone, but in the pictures, the duel arena already resembles the first Gulag – perhaps a bit battered. What new weapons does Season 6 bring? As always, with the new season comes a few fresh weapons, and throughout Season 6, a total of 5 new toys will be added to the game – 3 of them at launch:
- .410 Ironhide – Shotgun: At release, Battle Pass Level 15
- Grav – Assault Rifle: At release, Battle Pass Level 31
- LAPA – Submachine Gun: Coming at the event on October 19th
- Combat Axe – Melee: At release, available as a bundle or through a challenge
- Sickle and Hammer – Melee: Coming later in Season 6
These are likely also the last weapons to be released in the “Cold War” era.
What is this event? “The Haunting” starts on October 19th and is a Halloween event. There’s not much officially known about it yet, but the blog states: “Ready for battle in a real horror movie nightmare?”.
In Year 1 of Warzone, the Halloween event was the highlight, along with the reveal of Cold War in the battle royale. Last year, there were night modes, zombie soldiers, and truly nasty jump scares over the loot boxes on the map. For me, it was one of the best events I have ever played. Even though there was a certain skepticism about the loot boxes for weeks afterwards.
Cold War with 3 new maps and a large zombie map
What’s coming for Cold War? The last season in Cold War brings another gift for fans of the zombie mode. With “Forsaken”, another round-based map is coming and concludes the major zombie story of Cold War. The background of the current story will then be continued in Vanguard.

- Wonder weapons for zombies
- Hand cannon and ARC-XD for zombies
- 3 maps for multiplayer

Warzone is taking a final round together with Cold War and bringing a few decent changes for Season 6. How the map adjustments will affect the game remains to be seen. But the path of destruction through the entire downtown area really makes an impression.
After Season 6, it will move towards the “merger” with Vanguard. New map, new engine, and anti-cheat are the key terms here. However, the details about it are still not very clear.
