In an interview, some developers revealed details about the future of Call of Duty: Warzone. Among them were some interesting statements regarding Season 4. We might soon see the opening of the bunkers.
Where did the new information come from? In an interview with the French gaming site “GamerGen”, two developers from the current BR hit Call of Duty: Warzone answered questions about the future of the Battle Royale. Among them were:
- Taylor Kurosaki – Studio Narrative Director at Infinity Ward
- Amos Hodge – Creative Director at Raven Software.
Both answered the colleagues’ questions and revealed some exciting things about the future of Warzone – including a possible opening of new map areas, keyword “bunkers”.
Kurosaki was able to make some exciting statements about Season 4. Check out what he had to say and what it could mean for Warzone.
Statement suggests the opening of the bunkers with Season 4
What did Taylor Kurosaki say about Season 4? He doesn’t get very specific, but from his statements, quite clear conclusions can be drawn if you know the story of Warzone regarding the “secret” bunkers and that the story is slowly picking up speed:
Players have already discovered that there is a completely different area of Verdansk that they haven’t seen yet. They have found clues and determined that there is more in this city than you think. Season 4 will solve some of these puzzles and unlock some of them for our players.

What could that mean? Shortly after the launch of Warzone, players believed that the bunkers were part of a huge puzzle. Soldiers found phones, laptops, or input fields all over the map to interact with, but there was no real reaction to be found.
Loot hides are suspected, vehicle bunkers, or a similar extension of the gameplay, but with his statements, Kurosaki hints in a different direction: the bunkers could open a new underground world of Warzone and thus expand Verdansk. In Season 4, we might experience the first real change of the map.
Already with earlier statements, the Narrative Director indicated that there will be map events like in Fortnite. In the BR competitor, a black hole destroyed the map and gave players a completely new play area at the subsequent start of the new season. It will be exciting to see how Warzone wants to keep things fresh and current, apart from the regular changes in modes.
What does a “Narrative Director” do in a Battle Royale? The IW employee ensures that the backstories of the different game parts fit together in CoD Modern Warfare. CoD MW 2019 roughly consists of 4 parts, which is why console players are also slowly facing storage issues. All 4 parts are supposed to fit into the story, and that is the responsibility of Kurosaki, he said in the interview.
When does Season 4 start? If it follows the pattern of the last CoD seasons, then the fourth season will begin immediately after the end of Season 3. According to the in-game timer of the Season 3 Battle Pass, the current cycle ends on June 2nd around 7:00 PM our time.
We will probably experience quite a few seasons of Warzone. In the same interview, the developers revealed that CoD BR could stay relevant after a CoD 2020 and thus be a candidate for the new console generations.
