In Call of Duty: Warzone the new Quad mode has caused dissatisfaction, but fortunately, you can now start again with the beloved team size. Read why the new mode is causing frustration, which BR modes are now available, and what MeinMMO readers have to say.
This mode is back in Warzone: At the start of Season 3, a new mode was expected to bring fresh air to the Battle Royale. Instead of the previous Trios, Quads, a four-player squad, became the regular team size.
Did you miss Trios? Then you can cheer now: In Warzone, you can again engage in battle as a trio. This change is live right now.
There are now a total of 4 modes active in Warzone:
- BR-4ER (Quads)
- BR-3ER (Trios)
- 3-Person Team (Solo)
- Cash Grab 4ER
It is surprising how quickly Infinity Ward reacted and made the popular Trio mode available again. The likely reason is the partly harsh and very loud criticism.
Players were dissatisfied with the new Warzone mode
Here’s why the new Quads were unpopular: On April 8th, Season 3 launched, and immediately the 4-player mode was heavily criticized. While there is the option to bring in random players if you don’t have 4 friends available, the Quad mode quickly became seen as a misfit and was not well received in the community.
The reasons were numerous. Here are a few:
- Some players had become accustomed to Trios and had formed a fixed team
- As a smaller group, you were significantly outmatched by a coordinated squad of 4 fighters and usually came up short
- Many complained that 4 members were too many and that clarity and coordination suffered greatly
Due to the criticism, developer Infinity Ward responded via Twitter and announced the return of Trios. By the way, you don’t have to fear a massive update; it’s just a small playlist fix.
This is what MeinMMO readers say about the situation: Also on MeinMMO, some of you agree with the chorus of criticism regarding the Quads:
The Quad mode annoys me. I always play with a colleague in duo. Against a 3-person squad, you still have a good chance, but 2vs4 becomes much less likely. I honestly don’t really feel like chatting with two strangers; it’s not my thing.

Some readers think that such changes to team sizes are meant to always offer players something new. But some of you also enjoyed the battles in a 4-person team.
Especially the intense action brought joy. As huhu_2345 writes: “I have never had as much fun as yesterday. I usually only play with friends and as a group of four; Holy Shit, those were great rounds. We constantly ran into a group, constantly had battles.”
With the changes from April 10, fans of both modes should now be fully satisfied. What do you think, did Infinity Ward respond well to the criticism? If you want to learn about hidden changes to Warzone and the multiplayer of Call of Duty, we have 7 hidden changes from Season 3 here.
