The assault rifle Oden can only convince a few players in Call of Duty: Warzone. However, that it can be really good is proven by professional Nick “Nickmercs” Kolcheff in one of his videos. Here you can find his setup and a few tips for the rifle.
What kind of gun is the Oden? The assault rifle was among the release weapons in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and belongs to the heavy assault rifles. This very temperament is what it brings along – it plays slowly but hits hard.
In the Warzone, the behemoth usually stays in the cupboard: too few bullets, too inaccurate. Professional Warzoner “Nickmercs” has now tried the weapon and presented a setup that brings the weapon’s stability to a new level and allows for very easy kills.
With this attachment combination, you can clean up well in solo or duo modes, despite the bullet shortage. You only need 5 shots for a kill, and the low rate of fire combined with the pleasant recoil behavior makes it a top choice in modes with small teams.
The Oden setup makes the assault rifle playable, but few bullets are frustrating
What does his setup look like? Instead of opting for a larger magazine that the Oden only provides with a maximum of 30 bullets, Nick attaches a laser to the weapon. Surprisingly, he tries the 5mW laser, which is supposed to help with hip fire and mobility.
- Muzzle: Silencer (Colossus)
- Barrel: Oden Factory 810mm
- Laser: 5mW Laser
- Scope: Holo Sight (Corps Combat)
In his English video, he shows that he is not wrong with this setup. While sprinting, the assault rifle feels significantly more mobile because you can quickly transition from sprinting to aiming. We are embedding his video here:
With the title “One Shot Oden”, he slightly misses the mark. In the Warzone, you need a few more hits due to armor plates (5 with full armor). But with the field upgrade “Special Ammunition” in the magazine, you can take out enemies in multiplayer even with chest hits. So he is not entirely wrong in some ways.
How does the weapon play with this setup? Very reliably and comfortably. The weapon pulls upwards when firing, and since the rate of fire is low, you can easily compensate for this. Moreover, since it fires so slowly, you save bullets.
In terms of Time-to-Kill (TTK), it ranks in the upper midfield and can take out enemies slightly faster than the popular M4A1. In terms of range, the weapon presents strong values. There is only one point at which damage decreases, and with this setup, it remains above 80 meters.
However, you can still tell that it is a heavy assault rifle because it aims comparatively slowly. Additionally, the small magazines are a drawback. You should use all the memory you save while compensating for recoil to always keep your magazine reserve in mind.
Thus, this machine is only suitable for modes with small teams – namely, duo or solo. Because with 4 players, you would need to hit each with 5 bullets in the chest, which would just about suffice.
Advantages and disadvantages of the 5mW setup of the Oden
Heavy assault rifles have a hard time in the Warzone because strong damage usually comes with significant limitations. However, if you find the best rifle for yourself in a niche, it can be all the more powerful.
If you are on the go in duo or solo mode, try the setup and benefit from the advantages. For everyone else, there is still the long list of the best weapons of the Warzone.
