After more than 2 weeks, Call of Duty: Warzone is bringing a new update and fulfilling a major request from many players: Loadout drop can now be purchased earlier in the regular Battle Royale again. A few bugs have also been fixed, and the new playlist has been introduced.
This is the situation:
- The free Battle Royale Call of Duty: Warzone switched its main map from Verdansk to Caldera in early December 2021
- With the so-called “Pacific update”, the availability of loadouts changed, allowing players to bring their own equipment into the game
- The loadout could only be purchased later—now you can buy your equipment earlier in the regular Battle Royale again

When will the update come out? The update is already online and can be downloaded at any time.
How big is the update? It was just a small patch, and you have to download little. On consoles, this happens automatically upon logging in.
What has changed? The patch notes show only 3 points in total:
- Loadout drops can now be purchased at the buy stations at any time. This applies only to Battle Royale—Vanguard Royale has its own rules
- Other collision bugs on the Caldera map removed
- Problem with the tier skips of the Battle Pass removed, where the game could freeze

Loadout change led to unwanted dynamics
Why was the change revoked? Due to the adjustment, it was only possible to bring your own equipment into the game later in the match. Prior to this, players had to be satisfied with the regular ground loot.
This was frustrating on one hand because the weapons and equipment on the ground were sometimes very poor. There were only a few guns that played well.
On the other hand, the pace in the “Early Game” was lost, meaning the initial phase of the match. Before Caldera, your own loadout drove the first minutes: start the mission, collect money, grab loadout.
This motivation was lost, and you had to wait until the end of the first circle to get the free loadout. Only then could you get the drop at the buy station.
Now, at least in the regular Battle Royale, everything is back to how it was before the Pacific update regarding loadout drops. However, the change still applies in Vanguard Royale.
Playlist for the next 2 weeks
Warzone has postponed Season 2 to further work on improvements in the game. So far, not much has been visible, but the adjustments to the loadout should still please many fans.
