Call of Duty: Warzone released a new update on the evening of February 24th. The highlight: the nerf of the broken submachine gun PPSh-41 from Vanguard, which was overpowered due to a bug. Why the MP still rocks and what else the update brought, you can find out from MeinMMO.
Here’s what it’s about:
- Season 2 went live on February 14th in Call of Duty: Warzone and brought countless weapon adjustments
- However, a bug crept in – the MP PPSh-41 (Van) suddenly became the overpowered weapon
- Now the exaggerated damage has been fixed, but the weapon remains a beast
CoD Warzone: Update 24.02. – Patch Notes
When does the update come? The patch is already online.
How big is the update? The update was tiny and you hardly need to download anything.
What did the update bring? The highlight is definitely the fix for the OP-PPSh, along with a few bug fixes.
- Much too high damage of the PPSh-41 (VG) fixed
- Adjustments to the mission distribution in all modes (more bounties)
- No stun grenades anymore in the Gulag
- Problems removed that froze the game at match start
- Glitch removed that allowed infinite Nebula ammunition
More changes concern graphical issues in the game. If you want to take a look at the complete list of English patch notes yourself, you can find them at developer Raven Software (via ravensoftware.com).
PPSh after nerf better than before
Was the PPSh nerfed to the ground? No, in fact, the submachine gun from Vanguard even benefited from its short OP excursion.
You now deal more damage with the MP to the chest, arms, and legs at all ranges.
The PPSh-41 was already considered strong before the unintentional over-buff and could now also move up in the weapon meta in the long term. If you loved the weapon during its short OP phase, don’t stow it away directly in the weapon cabinet. Give it another chance.
With the update, the developers are ironing out a small but significant error that crept into the game with the season update.
For outsiders, it is hard to imagine how a balancing error can increase the damage of a single weapon so dramatically.
But the developers have already talked about the problems they face in continuing Warzone, which was originally planned only as an addon for CoD MW.
