Players are currently speculating whether Call of Duty: Warzone might receive a new map in the next season. Recently, the most well-known CoD leaker has also commented on this.
What are the speculations about? Recently, the developers explained in an interview that there is a completely different area of Verdansk that we have not yet seen. Season 4 is supposed to reveal a lot and apparently unlock new areas.
Additionally, game data related to Season 4 has recently been discovered. This includes a video that shifts the focus from Verdansk to Urzikstan.
This has now led to all sorts of speculation and debates within the community. Some suspect that the current map could be wiped out by a nuclear bomb, and that we will then receive a new map for CoD: Warzone in the upcoming Season 4.
Which leaker has commented on this? Recently, TheGamingRevolution also spoke on this topic. He is considered the most well-known and notorious CoD leaker of recent times.
He has already predicted many details about Modern Warfare and Warzone correctly (more than anyone else) and has even been banned on Twitter for it. He is considered a reliable source for leaks and information regarding Call of Duty.
This is what the leaker says: Although TheGamingRevolution is reluctant to bring “bad” news, he does not consider it likely that a new map for Warzone will be introduced with Season 4.
On one hand, the “leaked” video itself is not a real leak and not even really new – and it might not even be connected to Warzone.
It has been in the game since the release (of Modern Warfare) – hidden in SpecOps, the Coop part of CoD: Modern Warfare. This cutscene deals with how the terrorists spread in Verdansk and apparently also want to take over the neighboring Urzikstan.
On the other hand, according to the leaker, the developers had been working on the current map for Warzone for a year. It would be surprising to already “nuke” this and introduce a new map just a few months later. That would be illogical and unrealistic, according to TheGamingRevolution.
He personally does not expect a new map anytime soon; he thinks a new map is likely only with the release of Call of Duty 2020 – possibly set in the Cold War. Recently, the developers noted that CoD: Warzone will continue beyond Modern Warfare in further CoD installments.
What could happen at best, in his opinion, is that we might get some smaller BR maps styled like Alcatraz for Black Ops 4 until the next big CoD release.
What could come instead of a new map? TheGamingRevolution thinks it is likely that new areas on the current Warzone map will become playable in Season 4 – such as the bunkers. He is already very excited about this.
And indeed, a lot currently suggests that these could open in the next season. So the development surrounding the bunkers in the game is intensifying, and the opening of the bunkers would also fit well with the developers’ recent comments – definitely better than a completely new map.
