In Call of Duty: Warzone, the new map Rebirth Island was released only in December. But already there are hints about the next map. It could be released in time for the game’s anniversary.
What are these hints? The operators of the Twitter account ModernWarzone have previously found information hidden in the code of Warzone, including the map Rebirth Island. This time it revolves around another new map that the Battle Royale could get soon.
This new map is said to be located in the Urals and could build upon existing content from Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War:
- The focus of speculation is on the maps Ruka and Slope
- Both can be played in Fireteam mode. This mode consists of 40-player matches that are similar to Warzone. Loot, Downed States, and equipment are present there.
- The data revealed files “wz_forest” and “wz_ski_slope” that clearly point to these two maps. Players now suspect that these could be locations for drops.
ModernWarzone has compiled their information with a leak from the start of the alpha in July. Back then, it was said that the new map should take place in Russia and include the Duga and a forest.
From this information, they created an overview of what the new map could roughly look like:
What would the new map look like? According to the compilation by ModernWarzone, the new map in the Urals would have a lot to offer:
- A sanatorium
- Mines
- Ski slopes
- A zoo
- A chemistry lab in a swamp
- Duga, a Soviet radar system
- Golova, the site of a top-secret project from Cold War
Is the new map coming in spring?
Although the map Rebirth Island was released only with the start of Season 1 in December 2020, there could be a new map as early as March. There have been rumors for some time about a major event for the anniversary of Warzone, which will be celebrated on March 10, 2021.
Whether this map is part of it and how Treyarch will celebrate the anniversary of Warzone is still unknown.
But the Urals map sounds exciting and fits into the concept of CoD, which aims to connect Warzone and Black Ops.
