In the Battle Royale Call of Duty: Warzone, there are again allegations of “Pay-to-Win”. A skin can give you an advantage at the start of the round. However, the developers reacted immediately and put the issue on their list.
What advantage can you “buy”? In Call of Duty: Warzone, a good start can significantly influence the match. If you collect a few kills in the first minutes of the battle royale or if your match plan runs smoothly, you will enter the game with more confidence, and a better mindset often leads to better performance.
Thanks to a new €20 skin, soldiers can now get an advantage at the start of the fight. If you are using the special appearance, you will not leave a smoke trail when you jump from the starter bomber. Normally, players falling from the sky in the Warzone leave a clearly visible red smoke trail behind them.
Winter skin kills smoke upon entering the game
Which skin is it? It is about the Krüger skin from the “Wendigo” bundle. Here you get not only the brutal frost effects of the weapon skins for 2,400 CoD points, but the operator skin also brings a hidden ability.
The Redditor “aur0n” showed with a clear proof video that something is not right:
He jumped together with a player who was using the German-speaking operator with the new winter skin. He noticed that this particular player did not trail smoke behind him, unlike the other soldiers, who were heading in all directions towards victory in the Warzone.
The user “aur0n” also posted a photo of a forum entry on reddit that offers a bypass for 2-factor authentication for just $2.
How strong is that? It is a type of camouflage at the start of the round that offers little advantage during the further match and sometimes has hardly any influence at the start.
However, it can be a significant advantage as you have little time to look around at the start when you want to land quickly at the hot spots, and the smoke here is helpful for noticing enemies in the corner of your eye. Without the smoke trail, you will see enemies in a dive much worse.
What do the developers say about it? In the post on reddit, Infinity Ward’s Communications Manager Ashton Williams responded with a brief “noted”.
So far, the entry is not found on the IW Trello board, where the developers keep you updated on the progress of fixing some of the bugs. However, after Williams’ statement, it seems that the CoD team will soon address this small but annoying bug.
Every now and then, curious “Pay-to-Win” elements sneak into Modern Warfare and Warzone. Especially insane was a weapon skin that suddenly dealt more damage than the base weapon. Because it was a DMR, the damage was so high that it resulted in a one-shot kill with the skin. The bug has now been fixed, but the confusion remains.
