Many weapons are currently considered strong in Call of Duty: Warzone. But one assault rifle stands out: the CR-56 AMAX. The weapon needs further nerfs, at least says pro Warzoner Nick “Nickmercs” Kolcheff. What’s going on? Season 3 was a kind of redemption for the Battle Royale Call of Duty: Warzone. The shooter freed itself from its tight weapon meta – the average Time-to-Kill increased again and many more weapons are considered usable. In Season 2, it looked quite different, and only a limited selection of weapons ended up in the top players’ loadouts.
But pro Warzone player Nick “Nickmercs” Kolcheff is still not completely satisfied. Especially the assault rifle CR-56 AMAX, which the popular streamer sees at the top, and he wishes for more nerfs. Why that is and which alternative is currently at the top for him, you can read on MeinMMO.
“AMAX will always be a thing until it gets PROPERLY nerfed”
What makes the AMAX strong? The assault rifle combines high damage and good mobility with controllable handling. The AMAX is one of the last automatic meta weapons in Warzone that deliver a Time-to-Kill (TTK) under 500 milliseconds with chest hits. The last nerf of the AMAX did not change the important chest TTK and only adjusted the headshot damage.
A drawback of the AMAX is its noticeable recoil. The assault rifle lies exactly on the border between steady and shaky – which makes it the optimal “sweat” weapon. Strong players choose the AMAX because they know that more relaxed players prefer other, weaker weapons and care more about handling.
Why should further nerfs come? Nickmercs believes that the AMAX is simply still used too much: “After the nerf, people still use the weapon. The AMAX feels like it has always been a thing – as long as it’s not properly nerfed.”
Nickmercs still sees many players with the weapon and thinks it will remain so. At least if more nerfs don’t come: “It’s a weapon that is hard to ignore – the damage, the mobility.”
The American streamer also means that he sees many more different weapons on the battlefields of Warzone in Season 3 – yet the AMAX continues to reign.
What would be Nickmercs’ alternative? Nickmercs has never been a big fan of the AMAX and is currently playing the light machine gun PKM. The streamer especially praises the large magazine of the weapon, with which he can wipe out up to 6 people from the map before he has to reload for the first time.
