A very comprehensive Season 2 went online at Call of Duty: Warzone and changed many of the top weapons in the Battle Royale. MeinMMO shows you 5 alternatives so you won’t miss the Bren, MP40, and others.
The new Season 2 is online in the free Battle Royale Call of Duty: Warzone. In addition to new content, there were also a lot of balance adjustments – in gameplay as well as weapons. Particularly the most popular weapons have been nerfed:
- Bren – LMG for range
- MP40 – All-round close combat fighter
- STG 44 – First and easy Vanguard assault rifle
- C58 – Old overachiever from Cold War
- Cooper Carbine – Breakout of Season 1
How the comprehensive changes will impact the game after the dust has settled remains to be seen.
However, with these 5 weapons here in our list, you don’t have to worry about standing empty-handed in CoD Warzone after the season starts. Tips for leveling weapons in Season 2 can be found here:
BAR – No Compromises in Recoil
What makes the BAR strong? If you’re looking for an alternative for range, the BAR from Vanguard comes to mind.
In terms of damage, the assault rifle is in the middle tier, but you won’t have to worry too much about control – the thing is very stable.
If a shot goes astray, the time-to-kill increases due to low fire rate significantly. However, the low recoil promises a high hit rate. The new assault rifle KG M40 is also quite stable.

Note: The ammunition attachment ‘Lengthened’ now only increases bullet velocity by 10% instead of 30%, but the barrel is now much stronger at this value. So, feel free to experiment with different ammunition attachments.
Owen Gun – The new MP40?
What makes the Owen Gun strong? The submachine gun had already been climbing the popularity scale slowly before the Season 2 update and is now hoping for its breakthrough.
The close combat weapon is very stable, and if necessary, you can also achieve long-range kills with it. This makes it very valuable as sniper support.
Damage, movement, range – the Owen Gun can impress with many strong values and could really take off in Season 2.

Grau 5.56 – An Old Familiar
What makes the Grau 5.56 strong? A classic of Warzone celebrated its first successes in Season 1 and is now even more in focus after the nerfs in Season 2: Grau 5.56.
The weapon was the summer hit of Warzone after release, shines with high stability, and has one of the best iron sights in CoD history (iron sight).
Dig the weapon out of the cupboard again and show the holiday island Caldera why the assault rifle was so popular in Verdansk.

LAPA – Old School Submachine Gun
What makes the LAPA strong? The SMG was already a hidden gem in Season 1 and now has the chance for a leading role.
The damage is right and the range is decent. The LAPA really shines in movement – as a weapon from Black Ops Cold War, it has certain advantages here.
As a bonus, you get strong damage on limbs. This is especially helpful when close combat gets a bit chaotic.

XM4 – The Indestructible
What makes the XM4 strong? Among the assault rifles on the list, the XM4 delivers the highest damage on chest hits while remaining calm. Here, recoil is not a major issue.
In the end, though, you often have to decide: low recoil or higher damage.
- BAR: Almost only visual recoil – low damage
- Grau: Slight recoil – moderate damage
- XM4: Good recoil – slightly better damage
If you want even more damage, go for the AK-47 from Cold War. The weapon still ranks high in damage among assault rifles but comes with noticeable recoil.
