In Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and CoD: Warzone, a surprise update went live on Thursday evening. It fixes some issues and brings announced and long-awaited nerfs.
What’s in the update? The update for Modern Warfare’s multiplayer and Warzone includes several fixes:
- A fix has been implemented to prevent vehicle exploits.
- Another fix addresses exploits in general, including in the Infected mode, where there were recent issues.
- GameBattles: Fix for issues that prevented some players from joining new matches.
Additionally, there were some balance changes:
- Reduced shot delay on the light trigger and quality trigger for all .357 calibers
Furthermore, there were two more important changes to the weapons that we would like to explain in detail.
Warning, queue: Due to the new update, some players may experience queues.
Snake Shot gets weaker, Bruen Mk9 easier to obtain
Changes to the Snake Shot: Recently, many players increasingly relied on the .357 Magnum with “Snake Shot” ammunition and the Akimbo perk. This combination made the weapon incredibly strong at medium to short range and could take out opponents with just a few shots, allowing it to compete with the best weapons in Warzone.
This was apparently not the intention of the creators: The update includes a rebalance of the .357 Snake Shot damage. A bug that increased long-range damage has also been removed.
Changes to the Bruen Mk9: The new LMG Bruen Mk9 itself will not be tinkered with, but the way you can obtain it is changing.

Currently, there are two ways to obtain it:
- Either buy the “Encryption” bundle in the shop for 1,200 CoD points
- Or complete the challenges for the rifle.
In these challenges, you need to defeat 3 enemies with an LMG in 15 rounds while they are near a smoke grenade. Many players complained about this task, as it is quite time-consuming.
The developers had already announced that kills should also count if either you or the opponent is in the smoke. With the update, the “smoke challenges” are now made a bit more “lenient,” as revealed in the patch notes.
