The MP5 submachine gun is a popular weapon choice in Call of Duty: Warzone, but it was recently nerfed. One of the best controller players on Twitch has now shown his setup, with which he still swears by this SMG.
What’s the deal with the nerf? Even after its first nerf, the MP5 was still considered by many to be the best SMG and a top choice for a Warzone loadout. Recently, the big mid-season update brought the largest weapon adjustment wave since the release, during which the MP5 was nerfed for the second time.
There, the damage range and especially the 10mm ammunition were affected. You can find the details here: CoD MW, Warzone: Biggest weapon update since release – Key buffs & nerfs
So, how does this weapon stand in Battle Royale now? A respected pro still raves about the qualities of the MP5 and continues to swear by this SMG.
Who is showing his setup? This is Nick ‘NICKMERCS’ Kolcheff. He became a well-known streamer and professional player through Fortnite. He is currently representing the FaZe Clan.
NICKMERCS enjoys the reputation of being one of the best controller players on Twitch and currently loves to dominate in Warzone. Recently, he showed his alternative setup for the Grau after its nerf: CoD Warzone: Pro shows strong M13 setup – Top choice after Grau nerf
What does the MP5 setup look like? In his MP5 setup, he uses the following attachments:
- Muzzle: Suppressor (Monolithic)
- Underbarrel: Merc Foregrip (which apparently now offers a hidden speed buff)
- Magazine: 45-round magazine
- Grip: Stippled Grip Tape
- Perk: Sleight of Hand
What makes the setup so strong? In his MP5 setup, NICKMERCS relies on a balanced setup. The Merc Grip helps with weapon control, and he compensates for the lost ADS speed with the grip tape. The suppressor adds a bit of range. Additionally, he benefits from the advantages of an extended magazine and a shorter reload time.
With this package, which even he calls “overpowered” after the nerf, you can still mercilessly and with surgical precision take down anything that crosses your sights, especially at close range. However, even at medium range, you still hold your own – although not as well as before. For longer distances, Kolcheff then uses an M4 or the M13 in his loadout.
This means you have to forgo the Ghost perk since Overkill is set, but for the other two perks, you still have free choice. If you want to get Ghost with a second supply drop, watch out for the free drops.
In short: With this setup, the MP5 is still an absolute monster in close-range battles and a true beast. But even at medium range, you can still achieve something with this configuration. So if you’re wondering whether the MP5 is still worth it after its nerf in Warzone – try this setup and see for yourself.
