Season 3 celebrates halftime for Call of Duty: Warzone. A big mid-season update on the evening of May 25 brings massive changes to the battle royale: a new perk, the fast travel system for Caldera, and much more. Get a first overview on MeinMMO.
Season 3 is already halfway through and brings new content and changes to the free battle royale Call of Duty: Warzone with a big mid-season update. And the update is substantial.
Here’s an overview:
- Many quality-of-life adjustments
- Fast travel system on Caldera
- Blue perk “Serpentine”
- New tokens
- High-loot zones
- Collectible speed boost
- Field upgrade “Radar Jammer”
- “Champion of Caldera” Solo
- New submachine gun H4 Blixen
- Changes on Rebirth Island
The first blog post about the update already shows extensive changes to the game, and more is expected to come. Warzone pro “IcemanIsaac” refers to the update as “perhaps the best update of Warzone so far” (via twitter.com).
We provide all the information about the update and what is known so far in a quick overview on MeinMMO.
CoD Warzone: Mid-Season 3 – Update Info
When does the update come? Mid-Season 3 starts in Warzone on May 25 at 6 PM.
How big is the update? There is currently no information on that. However, especially the fast travel system looks very storage-intensive. An update between 5 and 15 GB is possible, maybe even larger.
Is there a preload? In the last updates, preloads were rather irregular and sometimes not available at all. It cannot be said for sure if you can download the update early.
CoD Warzone: Mid-Season 3 – Content Info
The developers from Raven Software have already mentioned many details in the first blog post about mid-season 3, but emphasize that these are not all the changes yet.
What is already known, we show you here:
- Fast travel system on Caldera
Almost every point of interest on Caldera will have access to the new fast travel system. The tunnel system will have 14 entrances where you can drive across the island with mine vehicles. Approach one of these vehicles to see where it takes you.
We will link the map with the various destination points of the individual stations here:
- Blue perk “Serpentine”
The new perk is also available in CoD: Vanguard and reduces incoming damage while running. Bullets, explosive attacks, and fire cause 20% less damage to you. If you hit an opponent with the perk, you will receive a special hitmarker when the damage is reduced.
- New tokens
The self-revive token gets a visit from family. The valuable bonuses “Gulag Token” and “Redeploy Token” are coming to the game and give you more options during respawn.
While the Gulag Token brings you back into the 1vs1 duel a second time, the Redeploy Token brings you back into the match directly after a death. Both tokens only last as long as the Gulag is open and yield cash if you have them in your inventory until then.
- High-loot zones
These zones are meant to create new, attractive drop zones. Right at the start of the match, there are marked zones on Caldera that are equipped with particularly good loot.
A look might be worth it. However, do not expect it to be quiet here.
- Field upgrade “Radar Jammer”
Similar to the field upgrades “Trophy System” and “P.D.S.”, you throw this device on the ground in front of you, and all nearby enemies will have a broken mini-map and cannot use killstreaks.
- “Champion of Caldera” Solo
In the new solo mode, you can go full throttle from the first minute and will not be able to rest again – the circle keeps closing, and you should always be in motion.
You start with 149 players directly with your loadout and find more cash than usual. The earned coins can be spent at an upgraded buy station that offers you enhanced reconnaissance drones and even the hefty specialist bonus.
To further support an aggressive playstyle, each kill will restore health, equipment, and ammunition.
- New submachine gun H4 Blixen
The blog compares the new SMG to the powerful Owen Gun: The Blixen should have slightly more range but a lower fire rate. The vertical recoil is lower, but the recoil pattern can be tricky.
After the first descriptions, the Blixen could be a strong sniper support with high damage but also significant recoil concerns.
However, the challenge sounds unfortunately like something for multiplayer: Get 3 kills while sliding in 15 different matches.
- Changes on Rebirth Island
There will be further adjustments on the small island map; however, there are currently no real details on that. The blog focuses more on the story developing on Rebirth.
However, a new in-match event was already announced: Occupation Scans. When the event is active, you have to lie on the ground. All operators who are not touching the ground will be visible to enemies on the large map and mini-map.
- Many quality-of-life adjustments
In addition to all the adjustments to gameplay and the new content, many smaller changes are apparently coming to Warzone that will change the gameplay feel on a smaller scale.
However, the details will only be revealed with the official patch notes. As a teaser, Raven Software is already announcing a new “Squad HUD”. With this, you might be able to get more information about your team members’ equipment.
As soon as we have more information and the patch notes are released, you will find everything on MeinMMO.
Warzone is ramping up and also shows with mid-season 3 that it is not neglecting the current Warzone, even though the successor is announced for this year.
