The Strela-P rocket launcher is a really powerful weapon that can prove extremely valuable in many situations in Call of Duty: Warzone, sometimes even a game-changer. However, not everyone knows the strengths of this monster and underestimates this launcher. We want to change that.
This is what the weapon is about: The Strela-P is one of many weapons in CoD: Warzone. The weapon is a recoilless rocket launcher that originally comes from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and fires unguided, armor-piercing projectiles. Its real-life counterpart is the recoilless rifle (Recoilless Rifle) FFV Carl Gustaf 8.4cm.
Why the weapon is underestimated: The Strela-P is regarded by many players as at best an average rocket launcher that can do a little bit of everything, but doesn’t really shine in any specific role – whether against air targets, vehicles, or infantry.
It has a comparatively small explosion radius, no target tracking, and the ballistic flight path of its 84mm projectile noticeably decreases with increasing distance.
And if you search for the best or strongest weapons for the Warzone, you will see or hear about the Strela-P only very rarely, if at all. This weapon has never really been meta. But, as I have now also realized, it is unjustly so if you actually give the launcher a chance.

Why you should definitely try the Strela-P in Warzone
In short: Rocket launchers are generally not everyone’s cup of tea. The Strela-P often remains under the radar even for users of this weapon class. However, the real strengths of this launcher are not immediately apparent, and it has only a few real weaknesses that can mostly be mitigated with some practice.
If you give this weapon a real chance and engage with it, the Strela-P can definitely become your new favorite toy in the Warzone. For me, it happened relatively quickly. And you can get a first taste of what you can do with the launcher and how it performs in the Warzone here:
The strengths:
- The projectile of the Strela-P is very fast and travels at nearly 200 meters per second.
- The projectiles are extremely precise up to a certain distance. It’s no coincidence that this launcher is referred to by some as the Strela-Sniper or Rocket-Sniper.
- The sniper comparison is not exaggerated. The projectiles are pinpoint accurate like a laser until they drop off, and you can even hold your breath like with a sniper to fire more precisely.
- Helicopters and ATVs (Quads, Buggies) are history with a direct hit.
- All other vehicles require 2 hits unless they have already taken damage.
- The Strela-P has devastating effects against infantry. A direct hit (which, with some practice, is truly consistent) on any part of the body takes out any player at full health and armor – even if they have the EOD perk.
- If you and a team mate fire 2 Strelas simultaneously at an opponent protected by the Trophy system, one of the 2 rockets will get through.
- The Strela-P is currently one of the best, if not the best solution against vehicles and barricaded or stationary infantry.
The weaknesses (and what compensates for them):
- The only real weakness of the Strela-P is the slow reload time. Everything else can be compensated for or doesn’t really matter for effective use of the weapon. However, with the yellow perk “Eager”, you can reload a bit faster.
- The launcher has no target lock-on and the projectile’s trajectory drops off after a certain distance. However, due to the rockets’ enormous speed, tracking is often unnecessary. Additionally, with some practice using the sight, you can effectively lead and easily compensate for bullet drop or target movement – even at greater distances. The weapon also has no lock-on sound, which means there is no warning for helicopters.
- The small explosion radius doesn’t significantly matter after some practice, as direct hits with the weapon are easier than they may initially sound. And these hits are devastating – regardless of the blast radius.
- When aiming with the Strela-P, the launcher produces a telltale lens reflection like a sniper. This is unlikely to save an opponent in a vehicle or a barricaded soldier. Because the hit effect is that of a rocket launcher, not a sniper.
- You can carry a maximum of 6 reserve projectiles. However, especially in team play, your teammates can supply you with additional ammunition or equip the Strela-P themselves to further increase your firepower.
Practice makes the monster: Anyone who gives this weapon a chance and engages with it could be rewarded with a new, highly effective killing instrument for the Warzone that one does not want to give up.
After a bit of practice, even on consoles with the gamepad, you will quickly get the hang of it and can make effective hits with proper leads (if even needed) – whether against moving or stationary targets. Practice makes perfect is truly the motto you should follow here. Then the weapon will become a real monster. Especially when you are playing in a team, you should consider integrating this launcher into your loadout. It could be very rewarding.
