Call of Duty: Warzone was supposed to have attack helicopters by now, which would allow occupants to fire at enemy soldiers on the ground. But it just seems not to happen. The helicopters have already been introduced to the game for the second time and were removed again after just a few hours.
What’s going on? Those who want to progress quickly in Call of Duty: Warzone take one of the many vehicles that can be found on the large map “Verdansk”. You have the choice between:
- poorly armored buggies and ATVs
- sturdy SUV family cars
- armored trucks and helicopters
However, this selection should actually look different by now. Warzone would like to replace the standard helicopter with an attack helicopter. It has miniguns for its occupants on the sides and could save you a lot of ammo if it were to stay in the game a bit longer.
Yet the battle royale still fails to bring the helicopter into the game cleanly and without bugs on the second attempt.
Warzone: Attack helicopter makes players invisible
What’s the problem? The new helicopters were actually planned as content for the integration of Black Ops Cold War into Warzone. When the Season 1 went online on December 16, 2020, it quickly became clear that the new vehicles were heavily bugged.
The thing became a favorite for cheaters because with a glitch players could become invisible. And I mean really invisible. The invisible ones were not even visible to their own team and the victims had no chance.
The cheater helicopter went offline just 33 hours after its release in December 2020:
In the tweet from back then, it says: “The attack helicopter has been temporarily removed […]. The vehicle will return once the associated problems have been resolved.”
Two and a half months later, the renewed attempt. With the Mid-Season Update of Season 2, the attack helicopters returned to the game, along with possibly the old glitch:
This time, the helicopter lasted a little longer than in December 2020: A total of 35 hours the attack helicopters were in CoD Warzone before the developers replaced the cheater heli with the normal variant:
The second attempt to bring the heli into the game has therefore failed brutally. In total, the attack helicopter was not even 70 hours in the game. If you have tried that thing, you can count yourself lucky – not many players have likely had that experience yet.
Warzone just can’t shake some bugs
Since the release, there have been many crazy glitches in Warzone. The major free-to-play shooter attracts exploiters like a magnet, but many of the bugs often disappear quickly and remain only an unpleasant memory:
- Absurd snake glitch gives outrageous advantage
- Camper traps himself unreachable in bunker with glitch
- Cowardly cheaters in CoD Warzone lurk under the map for victims
However, there are two bugs that come up again and again: invisibility and the nasty stim glitch. Over and over, unfair players find a way to trick the mechanics in the game or produce bugs that give significant advantages over us average players.
What will happen with the attack helicopter now remains unclear for the time being. The fix is back on the developers’ “to-do” list, but without a concrete timeline. It may take a while before the third attempt begins. For according to a current leak, the developers might be busy with the completion of Verdansk 2.0.
