When it comes to the popular class of assault rifles, opinions differ on whether the M4 or the Grau is better in Call of Duty: Warzone. The CoD pro Seth “Scump” Abner has an answer – with a catch.
Which weapon is stronger? In a conversation with 100 Thieves’ Nadeshot and streamer Symfuhny, the discussion touched on the two popular assault rifles Grau 5.56 and M4A1.
Although both do not make the top spot in the comparison of all assault rifles in Warzone (based on stats), they are popular among many players. The Grau seems to have the edge with most gamers.
However, Scump believes that the M4 is stronger – at least for him. His strong Warzone loadout utilizes the M4 as the primary weapon. The reason for this is not necessarily the inherent strength of the weapon:
The M4 is definitely better on controller, but the Grau, I think, is more of a PC weapon. I use the M4, and it’s great, but when I use the Grau, sometimes I just don’t know what’s going on.
Scump himself plays with the controller, and it seems that the behavior of the two weapons is such that the M4 is easier to use with the controller. A possible reason could be the aim assist that works better for the M4 than for the Grau.
Scump himself is a very strong player who has taken down the “human aimbot” shroud in Modern Warfare quite decisively. His assessment can be trusted.
M4A1 vs. Grau 5.56 in Battle Royale
The power of the weapons: The Grau and the M4 are roughly equally strong but each has its specific strengths and weaknesses. The M4A1 is an “all-round” rifle that is efficient at any range and can become even stronger with the right setup for all distances. However, it is outclassed at all ranges by specialized weapons, such as snipers or SMGs.
The Grau, on the other hand, is slightly slower than the M4A1 but more accurate. It is generally weaker at shorter ranges but somewhat stronger at longer ranges – which can be an advantage in Warzone. You should just avoid storming buildings with it. Which weapon should I choose? Based purely on the numerical values of the weapons in Warzone, the M4A1 has a lower TTK, making it essentially stronger. However, it handles slightly differently – it shoots faster and can become inaccurate more quickly.
The Grau has a lower fire rate and can potentially be easier to control, making aiming easier, especially with the right attachments. It often depends on how well you assess your own skill.
Which of the two weapons you prefer is entirely up to you. Ultimately, it comes down to which of the two assault rifles you feel more comfortable with. You might reach the same conclusion as Scump, using the M4 on PS4 and Xbox One and the Grau on PC instead. Or you might use the M13, which can be built into a real laser and ignore both favorites.
