The Battle Royale Warzone has started its last season before the big transition to Call of Duty: Vanguard. MeinMMO has taken a look and shows you who should get excited for the new Season 6 and which dates you should definitely keep an eye on.
What did the new Season 6 bring? The most noticeable change in Season 6 of Call of Duty: Warzone was the map adjustments that extensively altered the “Downtown” area of Verdansk. But Season 6 has even more to offer at the start:
- Map changes Downtown/Stadium
- New World War Bunkers with loot
- 3 new weapons – Assault Rifle, Shotgun & Axe
- Adjustment of 5 strong meta weapons
- Iron Trails ’84 as a regular mode
In addition, more content will be added during the season, such as a new mode, 2 weapons, and probably also 2 live events. MeinMMO is looking at Season 6 with you and shows who should join in.
Season 6 with the biggest map change in 6 months
What is liked about Season 6? The comprehensive changes to the map are the biggest adjustment in 6 months and have significantly “reshaped” a good part of Verdansk. Downtown and the stadium are hardly recognizable. A crater stretches from the signal array down to the hospital.
Along the way, the fissure swallowed some high-rises in Downtown, the remainder of which is now in the crater. The large new corridor offers a new type of verticality in the downtown area, and fights now play out quite differently here. On top of that, there are the 3 new bunkers, and overall, the adjustment was quite extensive compared to other map changes.
With the weakening of some strong weapons, movement in the weapon meta was initiated. 5 weapons were struck, and additionally, 3 new weapons entered the meta that have already emerged in recent weeks. You can find the new meta weapons and alternatives to the nerfed firearms here:

Another plus point at the start of the new Season 6 is the reaction to the outstanding feedback on the mode “Iron Trails ’84”. Instead of putting the mode back in the box right after the season ends, as is often customary, the “Trails” will also be part of the Warzone in Season 6 and can regularly be found in the playlists:
For a season start, that was relatively many changes, and Warzone apparently wants to bid farewell to the city of Verdansk properly. But here lies the problem of Season 6 buried.
The outlook for Vanguard makes Season 6 look outdated
Why does Season 6 have a tough time? Warzone has already partially announced what you can expect after the integration of Vanguard into the battle royale:
- Completely new map in Pacific style
- Anti-cheat for PC
- Fresh Vanguard engine for Warzone
- All weapons of the new CoD in Warzone
The quite strong Season 6 cannot hold up against the outlook for the upcoming changes. Many players know that Warzone will probably turn up the heat in early December and could become a whole new game.
Season 6 is the farewell to Verdansk – Who should check it out
Who should join Season 6? For active players, the new season is very successful. There have been extensive changes, and a breeze of fresh air is blowing through the large map Verdansk and also a bit through the weapon meta.
If you have not been in the battle royale for a while, grab your squad and take a look at the crater in Downtown Verdansk. The new area changes the dynamics in this region a lot, and the downtown area now plays out entirely differently. Even though snipers can still terrorize the area.
However, the adjustments are mostly limited to this area and depending on your match starting point, you might not notice the changes at all.
Who should wait for Vanguard? If you have set Warzone aside after a long and very active phase, then wait for the major adjustments with the Vanguard integration. While Warzone brings respectable changes in Season 6, they are not the big impact.
Even if, despite your inactive phase, you are a fan of Warzone, make sure to drop by Verdansk during Season 6. It is the last season in the city that has shaped and built up the Warzone for almost 1.5 years. As it currently stands, Verdansk will not be returning – you should not miss a few last matches for nostalgic reasons.
Conclusion: I have marked 2 dates thick in my calendar
After the release, Warzone was on screen daily. Even a year after release, we still met weekly to play a round in the battle royale.
Nowadays, visits are more irregular; shaped by waiting for the big changes with Vanguard. Nevertheless, I have 2 dates on my agenda that I definitely do not want to miss in Season 6:
- Halloween event starts on October 19
- Farewell event for Verdansk – Maybe at the end of November
In the first year of Warzone, the Halloween event was the highlight for me. We still talk about the “Jump Scare” boxes today, and even though it was stressful, it still had something special. We enjoyed playing the exclusive zombie modes back then, and I hope for a similarly unique experience as last year.
That’s why October 19 is marked in red in my calendar, with a request that the event is not the same as last year, but offers something new.
My second date is at the very end of Season 6. Leaks have found hints of a farewell event for Verdansk, and the last days on the old map could also become exciting. The battle pass for Season 6 ends on December 2, and possibly the farewell tour of Verdansk will take place the week before.
However, it remains to be seen how a possible event for the farewell of Verdansk will look. Still, I am looking forward to the farewell and will definitely be there when the final curtain falls for Verdansk.
