In Call of Duty: Warzone, the battle royale of CoD: Modern Warfare, the battlefield is determined by the deadly gas circle, which moves randomly and gets smaller over time. However, you can learn its path in advance to gain a crucial advantage.
What is the deadly circle? The game world of Warzone is vast, but it shrinks with each match due to a narrowing circle of deadly, radioactive gas.
Not only is the circle getting smaller, but it also wanders randomly across the map, with the next smaller circle always located within the area of the previously larger one. When the circle reaches its smallest form, the match finale essentially takes place, provided at least 2 opposing players are still standing.
The circle is not a fixed physical boundary; it is symbolized by a visible gas cloud at its edge, which can be crossed. Players outside the circle, within the gas cloud, take damage and ultimately die. Although you can protect yourself from damage with a gas mask, the mask lasts a maximum of 12 seconds.
The goal, therefore, is not only to prevail against others but also to stay within the circle and outside of the gas.
However, how the circle will move and where it will ultimately reach its final form is usually not known in advance. But with a certain method, it is possible to acquire this knowledge beforehand and use it to your advantage.
This is how you will know in advance how the deadly gas circle moves
How do you find out in advance? If you want to know how the circle will develop during a round, you need to rely on the reconnaissance missions – one of 3 mission types in CoD Warzone. These can be found scattered across the Battle Royale map and are recognizable by the flag symbol:
Already upon jumping, these missions are marked on the map with the corresponding symbol.
If you find such a mission and activate it, you need to capture a specific point on the map – just like in Domination in regular multiplayer. If you succeed, you will not only be rewarded with cash but also learn the position of the circle during the next shrinkage. If you continue to complete these missions, more positions will be revealed until you eventually see the final circle.
This is what it looks like on the map:
By the way, the more reconnaissance missions you complete, the more cash you get for it.
Here you need to be careful: This knowledge doesn’t come for free. Sometimes the points you need to capture are in open areas. Additionally, when you activate the mission, a flare is shot above the position, and when you capture an area, another one is as well. You are therefore also highly visible to nearby enemies and may become involved in fights that you could otherwise have avoided.
Whether the knowledge advantage is worth this risk is something you must decide for yourself.
What does this knowledge bring me? In short: A huge strategic advantage.
The dynamic circle can determine victory or defeat, especially in the later stages of the match. If you already know how the circle will develop and where the final fight will take place, you can secure that spot early and set up the best position for the decisive battle.
Anyone who arrives there later will have a much tougher time, and you can eliminate them from a distance or surprise them on-site at an opportune moment.
In addition, you generally avoid ending up in the gas cloud and possibly not making it out in time. Especially towards the end of the match, this can happen very quickly.
