A new attachment for the shotgun R9-0 is currently considered very strong in Call of Duty: Warzone: the Dragon’s Breath ammunition. MeinMMO tells you how to easily unlock this attachment and how to avoid potential issues.
What kind of attachment is this? The Dragon’s Breath ammunition was introduced with the big “Season 5 Reloaded” update for Warzone and Modern Warfare. It replaces the regular shotgun ammunition for the R9-0 with incendiary rounds.
These ignite your opponents and cause additional fire damage after the initial bullet damage, similar to thermite. This makes the weapon suddenly a top choice and the best shotgun for Warzone.
The R9-0 is even the best weapon in close combat with the Dragon’s Breath ammunition and has hardly any notable competition up to 8.5 meters. However, you need to unlock the corresponding attachment first.
How do I unlock the ammunition? There are two ways to obtain the Dragon’s Breath ammunition:
- you can buy the “Nikto Firestarter” bundle in the shop
- or you complete a challenge
The bundle is an operator bundle and costs 2000 CoD Points (approximately 20 €) and includes the “Krakatau” blueprint for the R9-0, which contains the ammunition. If you prefer to save money, you can complete the challenge for free.
Unlocking Dragon’s Breath through Challenge – Here’s How
This is what you need to do: The goal of the task is to achieve 10 kills with the R9-0 while sliding. This is relatively easy to do, as the shotgun is one of the few one-shot weapons in the game. It can kill with just one shot, at least in multiplayer. In Warzone, you need both shots from the chambers (“Double Tap”).
In Battle Royale, it can be somewhat challenging to get the kills. It’s best to play Plunder and visit locations where a lot of players tend to gather, such as the Superstore, train stations, or the stadium.
If you own Multiplayer, you should join the “Shoot or Ship, Whatever” playlist. Here you play the fast and close maps Shoot House and Shipment. Particularly on Shipment, you should be able to quickly rack up kills, probably even in just one round.
What if it bugs? If your progress isn’t being counted, there can be several reasons. Try the following troubleshooting steps:
- use the weapon without blueprints and attachments, i.e., “naked”
- try different attachments if that doesn’t work – some players report that it only works for them in certain setups that differ
- fully eliminate opponents in Warzone, just downing them apparently isn’t enough. Slide while doing the finishing shot as well as when killing
You can particularly easily complete the challenge if you play with one or more friends. In that case, try to lure opponents into a trap for your challenge. There’s a trick to completely block doors to cut off opponents’ paths and lure them right in front of your weapon.
