In fast-paced shooters like Call of Duty: Warzone, fractions of a second often determine victory or defeat. Every little trick helps you to be better. We will show you here on MeinMMO how to secure an advantage when applying armor plates.
What is it about? Armor plates are among the most important items in Call of Duty: Warzone. You can increase your health from 100 to a maximum of 250, and you should play less aggressively when your armor is not complete. The plates count for your whole body and also protect you from headshots – unless a bullet from a large caliber lands between your eyes.
The right timing when putting them on is also essential. While you are fixing your armor, you cannot attack and are defenseless. But you need the extra health in combat to be competitive.
For a long time, it was believed that there was no perk that speeds up putting on the plates. However, Warzone expert “TheXclusiveAce” took a closer look at the mechanic and was able to confirm: The yellow perk “Eager” helps with putting on the plates. MeinMMO shows you the details of his analysis and other strengths of the “Eager” perk.
Warzone: Perk brings faster armor – But not always
What did Ace find out? The perk “Eager” does not reduce the plate insertion time, but the movements before and after. Thus, he was able to save more than 14% of the time or 1.09 seconds with one of the tested weapons, the sniper rifle Kar 98k. In a shooter like Warzone, this makes a significant difference – the time-to-kill of the battle royale is roughly 500 milliseconds at short to medium range.
However, the speed boost is strongly dependent on your weapons. This also applies to the plate application itself. XclusiveAce tested the time to put on 3 plates for 4 popular weapons from different weapon classes with and without “Eager”:
- FFAR without Eager: 7.24 seconds
- FFAR with Eager: 6.51 seconds
- Time saved: 0.73 seconds / 10.08%
- MAC-10 without Eager: 6.97 seconds
- MAC-10 with Eager: 6.31 seconds
- Time saved: 0.66 seconds / 9.47%
- Kar98k without Eager: 7.46 seconds
- Kar98k with Eager: 6.39 seconds
- Time saved: 1.09 seconds / 14.34%
- Stoner 63 without Eager: 7.17 seconds
- Stoner 63 with Eager: 7.02 seconds
- Time saved: 0.15 seconds / 2.09%
What can be taken from this? For the expert, a few interesting facts have emerged from the analysis.
Ace expected that LMGs would have the highest time for applying plates. However, during the analysis, it was noted that you need more than 1.5 seconds with the Stoner to prepare the plates, but after putting them on, you are almost immediately ready again. Although “Eager” does shorten the preparation time, you need longer to have a free hand again after putting on. Therefore, the total time for the Stoner 63 is hardly reduced.
However, Ace believes it’s not worth switching weapons for applying plates. By changing weapons, you lose more time than you would save when putting them on. Overall, the savings between the different weapons vary greatly and no specific rule can be derived – except: Eager helps you a little when putting on armor plates.
It is also interesting that the plate application takes place in 3 different stages:
- Taking out the plates
- Applying the plates
- Putting away the plates
You cannot speed up the application itself. Currently, there is no perk or attachment that helps with that. With “Eager” you can only shorten the steps of taking out and putting away the plates.
Otherwise, the analysis shows that the popular yellow perk “Eager” is rightly very common in loadouts. We embed the English YouTube video with the analysis by “TheXclusiveAce” here for you:
Eager is the best yellow perk for gunfights
Why is Eager so strong? The bonus helps you in almost every combat situation and therefore is the most worthwhile among the yellow perks in Warzone. In general, one can say that the perk accelerates your hand movements and thus provides an advantage in many situations:
- Throwing and using primary equipment
- Using field upgrades
- Switching weapons
- Reloading rocket launchers
- Putting on armor plates
While “Eager” provides a bonus in most firefights, other yellow perks can be very specialized:
- Steady Aim: Field upgrade charging only strong in Plunder, reduction of cooldown by 25% is too low
- Shrapnel: Regeneration delay for the opponent is hardly noticeable in combat
- Battle Hardened: Tactical grenades are rarely used in Warzone
- Tracker: Anti-equipment perk – needs at most one teammate in the team
- Scavenger: Rarely brings a real advantage
The bonuses of “Eager” are not overpowered or overwhelming, but they are very versatile, which makes the perk so strong. If you mostly focus on reviving your teammates or enjoy being your team’s anti-equipment specialist, you should also try the other perks. However, if your main focus is on combat and you want to get the most out of your loadout: Rely on “Eager”.
