Call of Duty: Warzone has done it again! A new weapon from the Battle Pass is clearly too powerful and has been rampaging across the battlefields since the start of Season 4: the MG 82. MeinMMO shows you what’s OP about this gun, which setup is strong, and why you should pay more attention to ground loot.
The new light machine gun MG 82 came into play with the start of Season 4 and initially made no extraordinary impression. But those who fought through Verdansk on the first day of the new season and had the weapon as ground loot in hand knew right away that something was off with it. Well, actually, almost everything is right about the weapon, and that is the problem.
The MG 82 has very strong damage, high control, good handling, and sensational bullet velocity. Especially leveled up, meaning with all the important attachments, the new MG 82 is an OP weapon. MeinMMO shows you how strong the weapon is and which setup deals the most damage.
CoD Warzone: MG 82 with OP setup surpasses the competition
What does a strong setup for the MG 82 look like? The new LMG is already very strong even as a base variant. At the start of Season 4, the MG 82 is generously scattered across the map as ground loot and is a strong weapon for the start of a match. However, with attachments, you can further enhance the strengths of the weapons:
CoD Warzone: MG 82 setup for the season start
- Muzzle: Agency Suppressor
- Barrel: 16.4″ Task Force
- Optic: Axial Arms 3x
- Stock: No Stock
- Underbarrel: Field Agent Grip
With the suppressor and barrel, you increase your bullet velocity to a level that allows for very easy hits. Even distant and mobile targets are easy to hit, giving the MG 82 a crucial advantage. Moreover, even the standard magazine has 100 rounds.
In addition, there is the high damage. As an LMG, the MG 82 has what is called an “Open Bolt Delay” – it takes about 50 milliseconds after pulling the trigger for the weapon to fire, yet the LMG achieves a time-to-kill (TTK) of around 500 milliseconds. Without the “delay”, the TTK is exactly 450 milliseconds (via truegamedata.com). And this, even though the developers actually want to generally increase the TTK. Even the CR-56 AMAX could not keep up before the nerf of Season 4.
The Field Agent Grip leads to strong control and the recoil of the MG 82 primarily goes straight up and is therefore very easy to control. With the attachment “No Stock”, you get a boost to the “Sprint-to-Fire Time”. With the stock, it depends somewhat on your preferences. If you prefer faster movements while aiming, the Looter’s or SAS Combat Stock is better suited.
A Twitter clip from the Warzone news account “ModernWarzone” impressively shows how strong the weapon is with this setup:
Does the MG 82 have any weaknesses? Even though the strengths of the weapon are outstanding, the MG 82 remains an LMG and therefore falls below average in some stats. Due to the large magazine, the reload speed is low, and the aim-down-sights speed (ADS speed) is also rather mediocre. The important mobility leaves much to be desired. Additionally, the “Open Bolt Delay” increases the time-to-kill slightly.
This hinders the weapon only in close combat. As an all-round rifle for long-range combat, no automatic weapon can currently surpass the MG 82, and initial calls for a nerf are already being heard. The people behind “ModernWarzone” see it similarly – the saved setup of the MG 82 is called “BROKEN” by them.
In Warzone, recoil is a very important stat, and a stable weapon with good damage and a large magazine will always be among the top weapons. The MG 82 offers you that currently, and you should definitely unlock the weapon and add it to your loadout. Here you can find some tips for leveling up weapons quickly in Warzone.
The weapon meta of Warzone was in very good shape before the start of Season 4, and the developers in Season 3 showed that a fun meta with many different, usable weapons is important to them. A nerf of the MG 82 is likely just a matter of time. Get the MG 82 now before it disappears into mediocrity like most LMGs.
