In Call of Duty: Warzone introduced the new sniper rifle SP-R 208 with Season 6. The new weapon is incredibly fun – because it is excessively strong. Read here what makes the weapon so amazing.
What kind of weapon is this? It is the sniper rifle SP-R 208. This weapon from Season 6 has everything that fans of precise sniper weapons desire:
- High damage
- Good mobility
- Good rate of fire
- Minimal bullet drop and high projectile speed
The weapon has practically no disadvantages. Even in its basic version, a good body shot can completely dismantle armor. With upgrades, such as a 26-inch barrel and a .337 Lapua magazine, the weapon becomes really formidable. Then you can easily get one-kill headshots.
Unlike other snipers that can do the same, it is much easier with the SP-R 208, because the weapon has virtually no bullet drop, and the bullets travel between 40 and 50 meters so fast that the weapon is almost a hitscan gun. You take aim at the opponent and pull the trigger. Boom, hit. Leading is hardly necessary, that’s how fast the bullets fly.
Players love and hate the new weapon
Here’s how the weapon is received: Those roaming around in the Warzone right now should see the SP-R 208 more often than they would like. This is also because the weapon is immediately available when you purchase the more expensive version of the Battle Pass for Season 6.
Currently, sniping is going in full swing, and people are taking each other down with the new weapon. There are two camps. Some love the weapon because it’s just fun:
- Mookachalupa: “I grinded it overnight with my buddy and unlocked everything for it. I used it in Warzone and was worried that it has super slow speed, but we were wrong. It feels faster than the HDR, almost hitscan without bullet drop, once you have 338 Lapua, a long barrel, and Mono.
- HermsonSwitch: “Almost every sniper is pointless compared to it. Better ADS, reload, damage, and rate of fire compared to the Kar with higher projectile speed than the HDR with 0 bullet drop. It’s the best of both worlds and then some. It’s terrifyingly good, and I love it.”
On the other hand, some players find it no fun at all and want a nerf:
- SirBumbles: “This weapon and the AS VAL are way too good (more than the Finn was). Right now, I just can’t imagine having much fun in the game (I’ve already had enough grief from the KAR), so I will probably uninstall the game in mid-October. If they nerf it, I might leave the game installed a little longer to grind through the season as much as possible.”
- Shinrahunter: “It seriously needs to be evaluated. Is it a sniper? A shotgun? An ‘Instant-Win-the-Gunfight’ button? Every lobby is currently full of it, and it has sucked all the fun out of the game. If the majority of players in every lobby choose to use this one weapon, that is certainly a sign that it needs to be nerfed.”
It will be interesting to see what the developers decide in this case. Currently, many are playing with this weapon, and the game balance is certainly not optimal anymore.
