The FARA 83 has come a long way and has arrived at the top of the meta in Call of Duty: Warzone with Season 4.
What kind of rifle is this? The FARA 83 is an Argentine assault rifle developed and produced in the Latin American country. It was intended to gradually become the standard issue weapon of the armed forces, but never gained the desired prevalence. Production ended in the 90s (via Wikipedia).
When the weapon arrived in Warzone with Season 2 of Black Ops Cold War, it remained on the shelf for a while. It faced direct competition from the extremely popular and powerful FFAR 1 but could not compete to save its life.
After a rework with Season 3, things looked different. The FARA then became more of a weapon for long-range combat, and with its pleasant handling and decent time-to-kill (TTK), it stirred up the market for long-range assault rifles. FARA 83 is Top-Tier – Balanced All-Round Rifle
Why is the FARA 83 strong now? This is due to the buffs and changes in Season 3. In Season 2, the weapon was no more than a weaker version of the FFAR 1 – now the FARA has developed personality and impresses with its strong attributes:
- Stable and pleasant to play
- Good time-to-kill values at all distances
- Loses little damage at range
- Causes chest damage to the whole body
With the start of Season 3, the recoil pattern of the FARA was completely overhauled. It also causes slightly less damage in close combat and has gained more power at range. Instead of being a clunky close-combat alternative, it has become a strong long-range fighter.
Its time-to-kill potential on chest hits is just above the strong M4A1, which is also back among the top alternatives for all-round rifles with range. However, the FARA does not lose damage as significantly when it enters the second damage bracket.

The damage of the second damage bracket is very important for all-round weapons with range, as you often fight at longer distances with these weapons. Compared to many weapons from Modern Warfare, the FARA also has the advantage that chest, abdomen, and limb hits all cause the same damage. You don’t have to focus on the otherwise important chest hits.

What does the setup bring? The muzzle and barrel bring the bullet velocity of the weapon to the maximum. This helps you land hits reliably even at long distances. Due to the strong damage in the second damage bracket, increasing range is less worthwhile than with the weapons from CoD MW. Therefore, you should focus entirely on bullet velocity.
It is also important to use the Speznas Grip – the Soviet counterpart to the Field Agent Grip. The underbarrel gives you a noticeable reduction in recoil. The large optic with strong zoom without scope reflection also serves as a targeting aid. A large magazine with 60 rounds should of course not be missing.
What else can I try? A disadvantage of the weapon is its low reload speed. If you want to counter this, switch to the “45-Round Reloading Magazine.” If you prefer to play the weapon in close combat, use a smaller optic and try the “Suppressor” instead of the GRU Muzzle.
The weapon is also stable enough to remove the underbarrel. Then you can go for more mobility with a stock or a laser.
Advantages and Disadvantages of the FARA
With Season 3, Warzone has shown that the developers are willing to listen more to their players regarding balancing. There are some voices saying that the balancing update at the season start was the best update for the battle royale so far. Weapons like the FARA or the Krig 6 will be pleased. And players who had little interest in the burst-fire weapons in Season 2 will certainly also feel the same.
