The Call of Duty: Warzone received nearly 30 new weapons from Cold War in December 2020, and some of them are really powerful guns. A CoD expert has now revealed which 6 you should try out.
What is it about? With the release of the first season of Black Ops Cold War, all weapons from CoD 2020 went straight into the Battle Royale Call of Duty: Warzone. The first weeks after the launch saw the DMR 14 dominating Warzone, as it had everything: high damage, low recoil, great range, and a 2-shot kill potential with headshots.
Now the DMR has been nerfed and other weapons from Cold War get a chance to appear on players’ loadout lists. The CoD expert and YouTuber “TheXclusiveAce” has created a list of the top 5 weapons that you should try in Warzone. At the end of the video, he mentions the MAC-10, but does not include it in his list, as many players already have the weapon due to a blueprint error. For completeness, we are including the submachine gun as well.

Assault Rifle Groza
What makes the Groza so strong? The assault rifle was newly introduced with Season 1 of Cold War and Warzone and performs well in both titles. The Groza deals good damage while remaining manageable. This makes it a top alternative for players who prefer to use their all-round weapon for short to medium distances and prefer a sniper rifle for longer ranges.
Where are its weaknesses? The Groza cannot compete with the stability of a Grau 5.56 or M13. “Ace” believes that the weapon becomes too inaccurate to use effectively at distances greater than 75 meters.

Assault Rifle FFAR 1
What makes the FFAR so strong? For this assault rifle, basically the same statements apply as for the Groza. However, the FFAR offers a bit more damage in exchange for a few meters less effective range. According to Ace, the weapon is usable up to about 60 meters and provides you with a very strong time-to-kill (TTK) for an assault rifle. But you need a second weapon with high range.
Where are its weaknesses? The high rate of fire delivers massive damage, but compromises the FFAR’s control. The further your enemies are away, the harder it becomes to secure hits.

Light Machine Gun Stoner 63
What makes the Stoner 63 so strong? The LMG combines high damage with good controllability and offers you huge magazines to terrorize entire teams. The Stoner hardly jumps sideways when firing and the recoil goes pretty straight up. With a good scope, you can take out enemies at great distances or easily pick off foes parachuting down towards the ground.
Where are its weaknesses? The LMG is sluggish and not particularly good for close combat. Time to aim, movement speed, sprint-to-fire speed – all the important mobility values are too poor for fights at shorter distances, so you need a backup option for close combat in your holster.

Tactical Rifle M16
What makes the M16 so strong? The tactical rifle is a stable 3-shot weapon and provides a whole new shooting experience in Warzone. Its theoretical TTK values are not outstanding, but in practice, the 3-shot bursts are extremely useful and effective.
If all 3 bullets of a burst hit, you deal extremely fast 120 damage to the enemy and can – depending on the situation – either keep firing or briefly seek cover until the next burst is ready. Currently, the rifle also offers “infinite” range, and it does not matter which distance or body part you hit your enemy – the M16 always deals at least 40 damage per bullet (more for headshots).
Where are its weaknesses? In a 1vs1 at close distances, you are nearly hopeless. The M16 shows its strengths when it safely lands its 3-shot bursts at large or medium distances while the enemy fires their first 4 shots with their M4A1 off-target. What happens more often at long range becomes unlikely in close combat. Here it’s purely about TTK values, and the M16 just can’t keep up.

Submachine Gun MP5
What makes the MP5 from Cold War so strong? The “new generation” submachine gun is hardly inferior to its cousin from Modern Warfare and is considered one of the best weapons in Warzone and in the multiplayer of Cold War. It has the lowest TTK of all SMGs in Warzone and remains well controllable, making it a very strong option for close combat in Battle Royale.
Where are its weaknesses? Its higher damage compared to its “CoD MW” counterpart comes at the cost of a bit more recoil. While the MP5 from Modern Warfare still allows secure hits at medium range, the new version is rather a pure close combat weapon.

Submachine Gun MAC-10
What makes the MAC-10 so strong? This submachine gun has likely already reached many Warzone soldiers, as a blueprint of the weapon gave the MP nearly 30% more damage for several weeks. The problem has been fixed, but that can’t stop the MAC-10.
The fast-firing pistol causes high damage with good control at short distances and remains stable enough to inflict damage at medium ranges as well. Additionally, there are powerful magazine attachments that provide you with plenty of ammunition for your close combat duels. With the high rate of fire, it’s also not a big deal if you miss a shot every now and then.
Where are its weaknesses? As an SMG, the MAC-10 has a limited effective range and needs ranged support in the loadout. Compared to the two MP5s in the game, it also deals slightly less damage and uses more ammunition.
