In Call of Duty: Warzone, Season 2 has been released. With it, the zombies have come to Verdansk. Much indicates that there could be a nuclear explosion at the end of the season, leading to a new map.
What is happening in Warzone? Season 2 started on February 25. With it came new weapons and an outbreak event with zombies in the game. And these zombies could explain a new map in Warzone.
There are several theories and hints on how a new map might occur:
- The zombies are supposed to gradually overrun the entire map
- There is supposed to be a nuclear explosion
- Both could be directly related
There have been hints of a new map repeatedly. Initially, everything pointed to the release alongside Cold War. However, that did not happen.
In a currently popular theory, it is said that the new map will be composed of the areas Ruka, Slope, and other contents from Black Ops. It is supposed to come in spring 2021.
Zombies take over the map – Are they responsible for the explosion?
What exactly is happening right now? If you look at the map of Verdansk, you can see a claw symbol in the wrecked ships area. This means that this area has been overrun by zombies.
YouTuber Geeky Pastimes suggests that more areas will gradually be taken over by the zombies until eventually the entire map belongs to them.
Once 100% is reached, there could be a special event.
What does this have to do with an explosion? In Verdansk, access to nuclear silos has been opened since the new season. It is now speculated that either the zombies will trigger an explosion or the players will do it to deal with the zombies’ overwhelming power.
The event could remind one of the conclusion of Chapter 1 of Fortnite. At that time, Fortnite became temporarily unplayable, and only a black hole was visible.

When could the new map be released? The current Season 2 runs until April 22, as indicated by the Battle Pass. Therefore, it is speculated that with the start of Season 3, the new map will be released.
On March 10, 2021, Warzone will celebrate its first birthday. It is quite possible that something will happen on that day which will provide clues to the new map.
