The roadmap for Season 3 of Call of Duty: Warzone & Black Ops Cold War promises yet another weapon for the current season: the automatic pistol AMP63. With a small update on June 1st, the weapon was added to the game.

Original message: What’s going on? With the current Season 3, a total of 6 new weapons should be available in the “Call of Duty” arsenal:
- PPSh-41
- Swiss K31
- CARV.2
- Ballistic Knife
- Baseball Bat
- AMP63
Most of them are already online (the Baseball Bat will only be added in Season 4 to Warzone). However, the AMP63 is still pending. But if you don’t want to wait any longer, you can already rely on the automatic pistol AMP63 in Cold War. Due to a bug, you can apparently unlock this pistol already – MeinMMO shows you how to do it.
CoD Cold War & Warzone: Unlock AMP63
How do I unlock the AMP63? The AMP63 is actually not officially in the game yet. Players on reddit apparently found a way to obtain the pistol now that it was taking too long to be released. Videos prove that some soldiers are already hunting with the AMP63 in Cold War (better mute the audio):
It seems to be a glitch. In another thread, reddit user “zLight_Yagami9” explains that he has already unlocked the pistol and is sure how you can also obtain it (via reddit):
- Complete at least 5 kills with a pistol in 20 Warzone matches.
“zLight_Yagami9” also gives more tips for unlocking. You can collect the kills in the Plunder mode and it doesn’t matter which pistol you use in Warzone. The challenge apparently is not limited to the “Cold War” pistols. Also, you can leave the matches in Warzone before finishing if you’ve already made your 5 pistol kills. The kills will still count toward your progress.
As it was a few months ago with the Streetsweeper challenge, you won’t see the progress of the challenge – the challenge seems to be currently hidden and not viewable. “zLight_Yagami9” displays the AMP63 in his weapon loadout in Cold War as proof of its unlocking:
But keep in mind: This unlocking trick is probably a glitch. Once the AMP 63 is actually in the game, it may be that the weapon and the progress are taken away from you again. So think carefully about whether you want to attempt the challenge now.
When will the AMP63 be officially released? It cannot be said for sure at the moment. The new Season 4 is expected to start on June 17, and the AMP63 is likely to come before that. Currently, the dates that make the most sense are:
- June 3 in the evening during the playlist update
- June 10 in the evening during the playlist update
A shift of the release to Season 4 is also possible. However, no statements can currently be found from official sources regarding the specific release date for the AMP63.
Is the Sykov trauma repeating in Warzone?
What can the pistol do? A reliable assessment of the weapon’s strength cannot be made at this time. What is certain is: The AMP63 is a fully automatic pistol. In the gameplay video on reddit above in the article, the weapon seems quite powerful. The player runs through Cold War with the Akimbo perk and can take down enemies very quickly.
However, it’s also likely that the weapon’s values will change before release and that the AMP63 is currently in an overpowered pre-release state.
Once the weapon arrives in Warzone, things will get really exciting. When the automatic Sykov pistol was introduced to the game in mid-April, it was heavily overpowered and many players rushed to try it out. It only took a weekend for the nerf – but during that time, the Sykov was the ultimate weapon and probably left a little trauma for some players.
