The Mid-Season Update of Black Ops Cold War and CoD: Warzone brought new content, many weapon adjustments, and an event with action heroes from the 80s. The new weapon could almost be overlooked – but in the current CoD, you can get a baseball bat.
The weapon is currently only available in Cold War, but it is expected to cause headaches for your opponents in Warzone later on. MeinMMO shows you how to unlock the bat and how the baseball bat performs in Cold War.
Cold War: Unlock the Baseball Bat
How do I unlock the baseball bat? Currently, there are three ways to unlock the bat:
- Multiplayer mode of Cold War: Eliminate an enemy with a melee weapon that was exposed by your UAV, your drone, or your field microphone – in 15 different matches.
- Zombie mode of Cold War: Eliminate 100 enemies with a melee weapon that was frozen by your field upgrade “Frost Shot”.
- Purchase the paid bundle: For 1,300 CoD Points (approx. 13,- €), you get a blueprint of the weapon and some other cosmetics.
When unlocking in multiplayer, remember that you must always complete the matches for the progress to count. If you want to unlock the baseball bat quickly, the Zombie mode is very suitable. Use the Frost Shot and smash some zombies into mush. It is important that you use a melee weapon like the combat knife. In Zombie mode, it doesn’t matter if you leave the match before it’s over.
If you unlock the baseball bat in Cold War, the melee weapon will also be available in Warzone as soon as it is released.
When does the baseball bat come to Warzone? In the announcement for the Mid-Season 3, the developers explain that the bat will only come to Warzone in Season 4 (via callofduty.com). However, it is unclear whether the baseball bat will be available at the season release or only later during the season. Season 4 is expected to start on June 16.
Baseball Bat is a One-Hit Weapon – But Has Strong Competition
What can the baseball bat do in the multiplayer of Cold War? The bat shatters your enemies with a single hit. Thus, the baseball bat is in good company and ranks among the best melee weapons.
The swing speed is decent, allowing you to hit your target quickly. The range is the biggest strength of the baseball bat – with the combat knife, you have to get much closer, and even the strong shovel doesn’t reach as far as the baseball bat.
However, the shovel strikes faster again and also provides a one-hit kill. If you enjoy using melee weapons, that’s the compromise – a bit more range, but slower attack rate than the shovel (E-Tool), which is considered the strongest melee weapon in Cold War.

What can the baseball bat do in the zombie mode of Cold War? In zombie mode, the bat has problems. The YouTuber “LegoUnlocked” took a closer look at the baseball bat and maxed out the Pack-a-Punch upgrade.
The YouTuber claims that you will get hit by enemies much more often with the baseball bat than with other melee weapons. Moreover, the baseball bat’s lower attack rate stands in the way – even in zombie mode, the shovel is a better alternative.

The baseball bat is a nice addition to a strong mid-season update of Season 3 – but it does not really convince in terms of performance. However, it can be really fun to smash opponents off the map with a swing from the shoulder. Best in the outfit of McClane or Rambo – the poster boys of the current action hero event.
