The Call of Duty: Warzone received a hefty 50GB update and showed rather sparse patch notes. Those familiar with Warzone know – there are again secret changes, and indeed, that’s the case. Some of the best weapons now require different strategies. MeinMMO presents the known adjustments and suggests new setups.
The mid-season update for Season 2 came on March 31 and brought some changes to Call of Duty: Warzone, as well as a reduction of file size by nearly 10 GB. Compared to the size of nearly 50 GB, the patch notes seem rather clear. It mentions, among other things:
- A nerfed AUG
- Adjustments to certain attachments
- New ping options on the map
However, there is little to indicate that there were comprehensive adjustments to strong weapons. Aside from the note that the AUG is supposed to have increased recoil. But it turns out that some of the currently best weapons now require different setups due to “secret” changes. If you do not adjust your attachments, you will enter the fight with an unnecessary disadvantage. Therefore, MeinMMO shows you which weapons now require different setups and whether they still belong among the best.

AUG nerf disappoints – changes barely felt
How does the nerf affect? Looking at the first experiences with the AUG after the patch, the developers may need to revisit this. The tactical rifle is still strong and the slight change in recoil makes it weaker at very long ranges, yet it can still dominate at the important medium distances.
Should I change anything in the setup? There is not much you need to be aware of with the AUG. If you have used the most common setup, everything remains the same:

M16 needs a new magazine
How does the nerf affect? The M16 is the second tactical rifle from Cold War, which is currently extremely strong in Battle Royale. After the initial analyses, there was no real nerf for the M16, but more of a fix. Because the “Fast Fire-60 Round Magazine” now lowers your ADS values, and it takes you significantly longer to aim, which compromises the weapon’s mobility.
Should I change anything in the setup? Replace the fixed magazine. Instead, opt for one of the magazines that only increases capacity but does not improve your reload speed. With the “STANAG 60 Round” you still have the large magazine and fewer penalties to your aim down sights time.

FFAR 1 remains top-tier – with new magazine and barrel
How does the nerf affect? So far it seems that nothing has happened to the weapon itself. The changes are also limited to attachments. On one hand, the “Fast Fire-50 Round Magazine” has been fixed, which, like the M16, now comes with only benefits and no disadvantages. Moreover, the popular barrel “20.3” Access” no longer provides an increase in bullet speed, which is very important for Cold War weapons in Warzone. The FFAR remains very strong.
Should I change anything in the setup? Change your barrel and replace the magazine. The weapon will continue to perform at a high level and will not disappear from the meta for now. You could use the “STANAG 50 Round” for the magazine and the “19.5” Special Forces” for the barrel. Overall, this makes the weapon slightly weaker. You reload slower and your sideways movements while aiming (strafing) are slower.

MAC-10 benefits from new ADS bonuses
What happened to the MAC-10? The update changed many of the barrels and fixed some attachments. This includes some of the previously useless grips. Not all have been fixed, but occasionally you can now shorten your aim time with the grips. Very strong for submachine guns like the MAC-10, which remains a good choice in Warzone.
Should I change anything in the setup? For the MAC-10, it may be worth it to attach a new barrel and try one of the grips. The 5th barrel (6.5″ pulled) gives you the maximum benefit in range, and with the Speed Tape, you will aim faster. Overall, the MAC-10 becomes slightly more mobile and you may like it even more than before. However, the bullet speed does decrease overall.

LMGs need a new barrel
What happened to the LMGs? Previously, the barrels in the second position (usually “Ulan-Barrel”) were considered the best choice for LMGs because they provided the greatest bonus to bullet speed. This was not obvious for a while. When Cold War was integrated into Warzone, the description of these barrels read: “Increases vehicle damage”. Now the description is back, and indeed, the barrels in the second position of many “Cold War” weapons now increase damage to vehicles – not just for LMGs.
The Warzone expert “TheXclsuiveAce” had been experimenting and found that you only need about 50 shots with the Stoner 63 to disable a truck. Previously, around 100 shots were necessary. This could become a strong alternative against vehicles, but it remains to be seen how players will respond.
However, this also means that the Ulan-barrels are no longer the best choice for LMGs. Choose the last barrel (usually “Special Forces-Barrel”) to maximize your bullet speed. A strong Stoner setup now looks like this:

The “Season 2 Reloaded Update” brought extensive changes, many of which were again not mentioned in the patch notes. However, so far it appears that there have not been any significant changes in the general meta. The AUG and M16 are still good options. The FFAR dominates at close range due to its strong time-to-kill. It is quite possible that the developers will soon make adjustments to the weapons to bring the “OP weapons” in line.
They may also currently be too busy with the new map, about which, according to a leak, there are finally some substantial details.
