The new Rytec AMR has some problems in Call of Duty: Warzone. Bugs stop you from leveling and ruin headshots. What is going on?
What is wrong with the sniper? With the big 39-GB update that was released on June 30 for Modern Warfare and Warzone, the new sniper rifle “Rytec AMR” was introduced.
This is a .50 caliber sniper that is presented in the game as one of the “deadliest semi-automatic weapons.” However, it has now been shown that the weapon is not as deadly due to a bug as one might think. Another bug prevents you from leveling if you use special attachments.
We show you the bugs of the Rytec AMR and what the developers are saying about it.
Leveling only works without this attachment
What is the problem? Unlocking the sniper is not easy, as you need to gather 3 quickscope kills with snipers or DMRs in 15 different matches. You can find our guide to unlocking the Rytec AMR in Warzone here.
Once you own the weapon, leveling it is a bit more complicated than planned.
If you equip explosive ammunition, you no longer gain weapon XP to level up.
Players noticed this when they played the sniper with explosive ammo but did not unlock any new attachments. Twitter user @Aegishand wrote that he could no longer level up with the AMR, even though he already used 6 XP tokens for it. In his tweet, he reached out to Joe Cecot, the co-design director for multiplayer at Infinity Ward.
Cecot confirmed on July 1 that there were issues related to explosive ammunition and XP, and a solution is already in the works.
What is wrong with the headshots?
Another bug: Players noticed in their Warzone matches that the AMR Rytec cannot knock out enemies with a headshot. Without armor on opponents, this is not a problem, but as soon as they wear armor, only that is targeted. Even with headshots.
Twitter user @TheKlap86 asked Joe Cecot if this was a bug. “Out of curiosity, should the Rytec sniper destroy armor with headshots only? I’m just asking to make sure that this isn’t a bug on my end. No headshot, no matter the distance, resulted in an opponent [in the downed state]. Only armor was damaged.”
Cecot also confirmed here that it is a bug and that a solution is already being worked on.
However, aside from the bugs, the AMR Rytec is already quite powerful. It has a relatively high ADS speed and becomes very dangerous in the right hands.
How you can effectively use the sniper rifle, we show you with this explosive build for the Rytec AMR in CoD Warzone. This way, you can already collect one-shots with headshots, but unfortunately do not gain weapon XP for it.
