A major event for the explosion of Verdansk could also be hinted at by the Season 2 trailer:
It says: “Learn about the beginnings of the end.” The announcer in the leak also uses these words: “This is the end.” Currently, the stories of Black Ops and Modern Warfare are converging in Verdansk.
The evil operator “Stitch” is holding the good “Adler” captive in the Gulag, which is likely to bring the rest of Adler’s team into the city. They are currently fighting from the jungle of Laos, Stitch and Adler’s last known location.
That the stories of the two CoD universes “Black Ops” and “Modern Warfare” will be brought together with a big bang and something special like a live event seems quite plausible. A scripted event could easily cover all eventualities and ultimately lead to a new map or a redesign of Verdansk.
However, how it will unfold is still completely open. It seems certain that Season 2 has a few surprises in store. Whether these are limited to the story or will also have a significant impact on the actual gameplay remains to be seen.
The whole thing was very dramatic and a unique and innovative experience for many players. Moreover, it showed that the developers can create a scripted sequence in Warzone.

In this scenario, there’s the possibility to leave the map of Verdansk more or less unscathed since you could get rid of the zombies without detonating the bomb.
2. Scenario: Scripted live event destroys the map or parts of it
What kind of live event would that be? The information currently aligns with a live event, the course of which is completely planned. Something like this happened during the reveal of Cold War. For a brief time, a special game mode was online in which you had to complete some tasks, and at the very end, there was the first trailer for Black Ops Cold War.

The hints of a major nuke event in Call of Duty: Warzone are becoming increasingly clear. A new leak now shows audio files from the match announcer of an unknown mode – and it could mean the end of Verdansk.
Verdansk is a quaint, medium-sized town in the fictional state of Kastovia from Call of Duty. The town and its surroundings have been the battlefields of the Battle Royale Warzone for almost a year.
However, rumors have circulated almost since the release of Warzone in March 2020 that the town would not remain in the map rotation of the shooter forever. It is said that a nuke event will destroy the town, making way for an entirely new map.
Another scenario, in which the map is only altered, is also conceivable. However, the clues were scarce for a long time – until now. Because through audio files that data miners found after the Season 2 update in the Warzone data, the threat of destruction by atomic bombs is becoming more concrete.
MeinMMO shows you the leak and what it could mean. However, keep in mind that this is unconfirmed information. Even if the data should be in the game, it is completely unclear how or if they will eventually be released.
Match announcer talks about atomic bomb over Verdansk
What audio files were found? As with the zombie royale leak, these are audio tracks from the match announcer that provide hints about a new mode for Verdansk in Warzone. MeinMMO has listened to the announcements and found the following lines:

If you want to listen for yourself, you can find the English audio tracks in the video (via dailymotion). The leak was spread by the Twitter account “@ZestyCODLeaks“, which also leaked the Outbreak event before the official reveal.
What could this mean? The files suggest a new game mode in Warzone for the Verdansk map. It could also appear very limited in the form of a time-sensitive live event. We would also like to present 2 possibilities:
- New game mode with NPC and player zombies, where you hunt the map yourself
- Live event to blow up Verdansk, similar to the reveal of Cold War in Warzone
1. Scenario: Plague game mode – the battle for Verdansk
What kind of game mode would that be? With the start of Season 2, there are NPC zombies on the map that come into the city via the new combat zone “Shipwreck”. Currently, the zombie-infested area is very limited, but that could change.
In this game mode, the city would be filled with zombies. Especially in the “Plague Zones”, of which the announcer speaks in the leak. Another data leak possibly also shows the spread of these zones:
The template was found by the data miner in the Warzone data, and it fits well to the Verdansk map. To defeat the zombie plague, a nuclear bomb is to be dropped over Verdansk. Along with the leak of an unreleased contract, a picture begins to form:
The name of the contract is “Launch Code”. The task: “Find 3 launch codes. Decrypt them. Get a nuke killstreak.” Thus, the mode could offer two game conditions:
- A team completes the contract, drops the bomb over Verdansk, and players must complete an evacuation
- There is another way to drive the zombies out of Verdansk
This could also be played with 2 large teams that then pursue different objectives and must prevent the other team from achieving its objectives.
There might be no gas circle in this mode but rather a timer. Also, the Gulag would be disabled, as the announcer talks about player zombies. As with the Zombie Royale for the Halloween event, fallen players could come back into the match through kills. There might also be a respawn that lets players return as zombies.
The gameplay would therefore be more in line with a match of Plunder rather than a Battle Royale. You must collect something, complete tasks, and outmaneuver your enemies.
In this scenario, there’s the possibility to leave the map of Verdansk more or less unscathed since you could get rid of the zombies without detonating the bomb.
