The patches coming to Call of Duty: Warzone contain more than what the official patch notes reveal. At least, this is the opinion of a CoD expert. Some of these hidden changes have a significant impact: There is said to be a new best sniper rifle now.
Which weapons are involved? In the area of sniper rifles, there are two weapons whose stats make them the best guns in the game: the AX-50 and the HDR. Both weapons can kill with one shot to the head at any distance.
These “one-shot” kills have made both weapons stronger in every variant than their lighter competitors, the DMRs (Designated Marksman Rifle).
However, that seems to have changed now, as the “little siblings”, the DMRs, appear to be stronger now. Especially, the Kar98k seems to be really good now.
Where does the info come from? This was discovered by CoD expert and YouTuber TheXclusiveAce. In a video, he presents the hidden changes to CoD: Warzone that he found. However, he also states that he does not have a good testing environment for that, as Warzone cannot yet be tested in a private match.
The results might therefore be inaccurate and not as reliable as his other videos.
Nevertheless, he is convinced that something has changed since the latest patch on March 31 that was not documented.
Hidden changes in Warzone
What is changing about the AX-50 and snipers? It seems that at least the AX-50 can no longer take down an opponent with just one shot – the Kar98k (a DMR) can do that now better. Previously, both the AX-50 and the HDR had the ability to instantly kill opponents, even if they were protected by 3 armor plates.
Currently, Ace is getting “hit markers” with the AX-50 more frequently for headshots, indicating that he has hit the opponent in the head without killing them. This means that the AX-50 is weaker than before the patch.
On the other hand, he has observed that he can now kill with the DMR Kar98k at a much greater distance with a headshot immediately. This makes the weapon stronger than before and possibly even stronger than dedicated sniper rifles. However, the YouTuber still needs better data for a precise analysis.
Hidden change in audio sounds discovered
What else is different? Ace has also noticed that apparently something has changed with the volume of steps and loadout drops. He now notices steps much more clearly, while the humming of loadout crates has become less intrusive.
According to Ace, this could also be related – the quieter hum could simply make steps stand out more. Either way, none of the changes were noted in the patch notes.
Ace and some other players consider it possible that Warzone contains many such hidden changes. For instance, with the same patch, the EBR-14 suddenly became stronger just by a skin, which in hindsight might have been a bug.
Nevertheless, many are sure: Not all changes are documented in the patch notes.
