An LMG is currently gaining quite a few new followers in Call of Duty: Warzone. The big YouTuber “Vikkstar123” is one of them and recently showcased a setup that nearly broke his kill record with 33 kills.
What weapon are we talking about? This is all about the “Season 3” weapon Bruen Mk9. The light machine gun (LMG) is similar to the American machine gun “M294 LMG”, a modified version of the “FN Minimi” from the Belgian defense contractor “Fabrique National Herstal”.
The gun arrived with the Mid-Season Update of Season 3 for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare & Warzone and has since lived a rather niche existence. However, the weapon is now among the best firearms in the Battle Royale.
Here you can find the strong setup of a well-known Warzone YouTuber with meaningful gameplay and more information about the LMG that you definitely should try out.
Stable Bruen Mk9 Setup for Warzone
This setup is recommended by the big YouTuber “Vikkstar123” who brings a lot of content for Warzone on his channel and usually presents the setup used in his gameplay recordings.
Here you can find his English video where he collects a total of 100 kills with a 4-man squad in the “BR 200” mode, contributing 33 kills himself. He was just short of his record of 35 kills. Most kills are made with the Bruen Mk9 at medium to long distances, showcasing the impressive performance that the weapon delivers in Warzone:
Vikkstar’s Warzone Bruen Mk9 Setup
- Muzzle: Monolithic Suppressor
- Barrel: XRK Summit 26.8″
- Laser: Tactical Laser
- Optic: VLK 3x-Optic
- Ammo: 60-Round Magazine
How does the Bruen Mk9 play? With this setup, you get an assault rifle-like LMG that proves to be very stable. The long barrel and optic help you achieve accurate hits, even at long distances. The Monolithic Suppressor increases the range further, and when you shoot with the weapon, the enemy does not get a notification on their mini-map.
The crucial attachment is the 60-Round Magazine. This allows you to move noticeably faster and increases your ADS speed. Together with the “Tactical Laser”, the Bruen becomes an AR-LMG hybrid that plays very similarly to the Grau 5.56 but offers more damage. However, the time to aim down sights is higher.
Bruen Mk9 Rises to the Top of Warzone Weapons
Why is this so strong in Warzone now? The Grau 5.56 is still performing very well after the nerf with the biggest weapon update in MW since release. However, it is no longer the overpowered weapon it used to be.
Many players are therefore trying once again alternatives to the Grau 5.56 and opting for weapons that deliver very similar performance but possibly align better with their playstyle. The Bruen is one of these alternatives, as it is quite stable to play, offers a better time-to-kill (TTK), but takes a bit longer to aim down sights.
Here is the damage comparison of the two strong weapons, with typical Warzone setups:

Even if you factor in the time to aim down sights, the Bruen remains ahead from about 50 meters and outperforms the former God-tier weapon Grau 5.56. So, if you are currently looking for a valid replacement for the Grau or just want to try something new, grab the Bruen and clear some space in Verdansk. The LMG is currently one of the best weapons in the Battle Royale, like the semi-automatic weapon FAL, which offers fantastic TTK.
