Strong assault rifles perform well at almost any distance in Call of Duty: Warzone. Here you will learn which ones are particularly effective at taking down armor and opponents.
Assault rifles are a damn strong weapon class in Call of Duty: Warzone. However, not all of these all-rounders deliver top performance when it comes to melting down enemies’ armor and taking out the guys hiding behind it.

Warzone: Computational Damage Comparison with Clear Winner
To compare the damage of the assault rifles, we take their approximate fire rate and their maximum damage that they cause at close range, targeting the upper chest area. Once the damage surpasses 250, the opponent is considered downed. The value that results from this calculation is the computational time-to-kill (TTK), meaning the time the assault rifle needs to take down opponents with 3 plates.

It is noticeable that the two “specialists” among the assault rifles occupy the first and last place. The FAL is a single-shot rifle, while the FR 5.56 normally fires a 3-shot burst.

How were the values determined? To draw the damage comparison, divide the maximum health of Warzone (250 health points) by the weapon’s damage. Round this value, and you will get the number of bullets you need for the kill.
Since you often have the values for the fire rate in RPM, or bullets per minute, you need to divide 60 (seconds) by the fire rate. This value shows how quickly the weapon fires its bullets (in seconds).
As the first bullet fires without “cooldown,” you need to subtract one from the number of bullets needed. Multiply the “time for a bullet” by the reduced number of bullets required to obtain the computational TTK in seconds:
(( 250 / damage per bullet ) – 1) x ( 60 / RPM ) = TTK in seconds
FN FAL – Clear Winner in the Values
What makes the FAL so strong? This assault rifle requires a lot of concentration and accuracy, but rewards skilled soldiers with incredible values. The TTK with full armor is just under 50ms below the value of the second-place AK-47. This is a significant difference and the single-shot rifle thus takes the lead in damage values. If you manage to hit headshots with this weapon, you might even outperform SMGs at short ranges. Here’s the appropriate guide for it.
How should I modify the rifle? To keep the semi-automatic single-fire under control, you should use a few attachments that reduce recoil and increase aiming stability. Depending on how you want to use the weapon, prioritize range or speed. However, you should always include some stability.
Which attachments are strong? Use the “Monolithic Suppressor,” one of the attachments, that we recommend for almost every setup. It suppresses shooting noise and increases range. A long barrel – XRK Master Marksman is also a given here. With higher range, the damage decreases at longer distances only later.
If you want to go for range, we recommend a hybrid sight or the VLK 3.0x sight and the underbarrel “Tactical Foregrip.” This gives you strong control over the rifle and allows for very precise shots, even at long distances.
If you also use the weapon at shorter distances, consider the ADS speed. Use the FSS Combat Stock to compensate for the “slow” barrel and try a smaller sight. The “Tactical Grip” is also a good choice here and gives you strong control over this single-shot monster.
What assault rifle alternatives are there? None. The FAL plays in a different league. The FAL can be seen as an assault rifle-sniper hybrid and finds its competition more among the DMRs and sniper rifles. This makes it strong, but not necessarily playable for everyone. If you can handle the single shot, you can also try the Kar98k. Due to some “secret adjustments” the weapon is considered one of the strongest snipers, with good handling.
AK 47 – Heavy AR with Character
What can the AK-47 do? The AK has cult status and is found in many shooters. In Modern Warfare, the standard variant comes with the heavy 7.62 × 9 mm caliber and plays accordingly. It feels a bit sluggish in the hand and shakes you quite a bit when firing. However, it delivers a lot of damage and has the second fastest TTK value among the assault rifles.
What should I consider with the AK? To tame the Russian rifle, you need at least one attachment for better control. Furthermore, you need to decide how to handle ammunition. Large magazines are important in Warzone for putting pressure on enemies at long distances or having enough firepower to take out entire teams, but with smaller magazines, the AK is significantly more mobile.
So which attachments should I take? Depending on the use, either take the massive 75-round magazine or the “5.45 × 39 mm” magazine that converts the AK to lighter AR ammunition. The 5.45 caliber does drain the magazine quickly, but you deal a bit more damage and have better recoil control. This drives the TTK from 535 ms to 522 ms.
Here, too, the Monolithic Suppressor is standard. This attachment performs well on nearly every weapon, and even without additional range suppressors are really strong. Additionally, the “23” RPK barrel” helps you drastically increase your range. To offset the lost ADS speed, attach the “Stock” to the weapon.
If you primarily use the weapon for longer ranges, a decent sight helps. Here, too, we recommend one of the hybrid sights, which does, however, cost a lot of ADS speed. The VLK 3.0x sight offers better values here, but you cannot switch the sight. If you want to go for medium and short ranges, the “Tactical Laser” helps.
Which assault rifle plays similarly? The Oden ranks 4th in the TTK ranking of assault rifles and can hold its own against the AK. The Oden offers strong setups with a lot of range. The Season 4 weapon CR-56 AMAX is practically a tamed AK. If you like heavy assault rifles but find the AK too wobbly, you might want to try the AMAX.
RAM-7 – The Better M4A1
Why the RAM-7? Among light assault rifles, the RAM-7 performs the best. It has the same damage profile as the M4A1, but comes with a higher fire rate. This is reflected in the values as well. The TTK is nearly 30 ms faster than that of the M4. However, this AR takes some getting used to – the recoil makes the weapon pull to the left, unlike all other assault rifles, which tend to pull to the right.
What should be noted? Plan for an attachment to reduce recoil, as the RAM-7 can sometimes be quite wobbly. Fortunately, the RAM-7 also has a barrel that comes with strong recoil control and significantly increases range. If you can control the weapon and land headshots in Battle Royale, this weapon becomes a top gun.
What attachment care does the RAM-7 need? For more range and fire suppression, again attach the Monolithic Suppressor to the muzzle. Together with the barrel, you already have very good range and control over the killing tool.
The RAM-7, with these attachments and a decent sight, achieves the desired successes even at greater distances, but is somewhat sluggish. The “XRK Combat Stock” brings the ADS values back to a good level, and you can even fit a 50-round magazine while still having good chances at short distances.
For greater distances, use a hybrid sight, and if you primarily use the weapon at short to medium ranges, then save on the sight and take the “Textured Grip Tape” instead. This way, you will not only have good TTK values but also strong ADS speed.
What alternatives are there? Among the light assault rifles, we recommend the M4A1 and the Grau 5.56 in addition to the RAM-7. Both alternatives are somewhat worse than the RAM-7, but more stable. The Grau may have the worst TTK value, but it offers the greatest AR range and, with recoil attachments, almost becomes a laser with high accuracy.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare offers a lot of weapons, and the standard multiplayer requires different values than the large Warzone. Especially the assault rifles are really strong in MP, and we have many guides for the all-round weapons:

In Warzone, however, the distributions are different, and another really strong rifle is encroaching in the hunting grounds of ARs: the submachine gun AUG.
