The MG34 is not exactly one of the most popular weapons in Call of Duty: Warzone. But actually, this forgotten LMG has pretty strong damage values. If you want to try something new, you are in the right place.
When choosing their weapons, many players of the Battle Royale Call of Duty: Warzone stick to the lists of the best weapons. These don’t even have to be the strongest firearms, as precise accuracy and certain handling are prioritized by many.
However, some weapons hit so hard that you should definitely try them, even if they don’t meet all these criteria – the MG34 is at the top of this list. MG34 shreds enemies in the Warzone – with some drawbacks
What makes the MG34 so good? Its pure strength. The DPS value (damage per second) is virtually above all automatic weapons and brings your opponents down faster than the usual popular weapons of the Warzone:

Only the strong AMAX can keep up with the Time-to-Kill, but it loses its damage advantage against the MG34 at 24 meters, which only enters its second damage range at nearly 33 meters. Here you see the comparison in the graphic:
So why does hardly anyone like this weapon? Unfortunately, it comes with certain disadvantages that are off-putting to some soldiers:
- Slow handling
- Very long reload time
The standard ADS time (the time to aim) is above the usual value that many players expect from a top weapon in the Warzone. Especially in tight situations, it feels like an eternity until the weapon is finally aimed. Unlike the Bruen Mk9, which becomes more of an assault rifle hybrid with the 60-round magazine, the normal 50-round mag of the MG34 functions more like an LMG magazine.
This means you cannot improve the handling of the weapon with a smaller magazine, and the reload time for 50 rounds takes an unpleasant 8.75 seconds. While you can attach a larger magazine and fire up to 200 rounds in a row, the weapon loses even more handling.
Attachments cannot compensate for weaknesses, but the damage hits hard
What setup should I try with it? The big Warzone streamer Nick “Nickmercs” Kolcheff has tackled the weapon and demonstrated the brutality of the LMG in a YouTube video. With almost every kill with the weapon, a small sigh escapes him because he immediately realizes how quickly the enemies go down when the hits land. Here is his setup:
- Muzzle: Silencer (Monolith)
- Barrel: FSS Brute
- Laser: Tactical Laser
- Sight: VLK 3.0x Scope
- Underbarrel: Command Foregrip
The LMG grants him some strong kills, but at the beginning of his video, he dismisses the weapon’s tournament capabilities. To him, it’s just too slow and not suited for him at all.
If you can handle the weapon’s “Iron Sight,” you can swap the scope for a stock or grip that further increases your movement speed. However, even with this setup, the LMG plays comfortably, albeit indeed a bit sluggishly. If the long reload time doesn’t bother you, you should try out a round or two with the MG34. What would the MG34 need to become a top weapon? Theoretically, the weapon only lacks an attachment to land in the top tier of the Warzone: an assault rifle magazine. If the MG34 had a magazine like the Bruen Mk9, which slightly improves handling and movement speed and significantly reduces reload time, we would have a powerhouse that takes out enemies in the Warzone at the highest level.
Are LMGs on the rise in the Warzone? With the Bruen Mk9, an LMG belonged to the strongest weapons in the Warzone for some time. It remains at the top of its class as it offers excellent precision. However, other class representatives are catching up:
- PKM: Also reloads extremely slowly but can hold its own against the Bruen
- MG34 – Takes down enemies quickly with strong damage
- Holger-26 – Has been buffed several times – can be converted into an assault rifle hybrid
